Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled 970.152 passengers in 2022, making it its eighteenth busiest year on record. The figure represents an increase of 129.8% on the year before but is down 43.6% on the pre-pandemic 2019. The airport’s recovery rate during 2022 is below the European industry average but outperformed the airport’s earlier estimates it would handle some 880.000 passengers. The number of aircraft movements stood at 21.571 during the year.

DeleteWith Finnair and Aegean around, increased frequencies on DXB, MUC, FRA, BEG, Istanbul flights, I guess LJU could reach 1.3 million passengers in 2023.
ReplyDeleteWith the iniciatives, my guess is 1.6mio, even without them, DXB, MUC, FRA, BEG, LHR, ZRH all have major increases, and with official calculation of 10 flights per day on 120 PAX aircraft with 250 working days, the iniciatives alone should bring extra 300.000 PAX

DeleteAlso BA with fly for entire summer season, they added 2pw flights for April, May and October + added a 6th rotation for peak summer months.
DeleteThe 6th weekly flight was added this week; I was checking it over the week and only 5x weekly was available; looking great for LJU!
DeleteAegean and Finnair need to operate year-round services as well. With Aegean you can have great connections from ATH to the Middle East and the Caucasus region and with Finnair to Asia.
DeleteCompared to Tallinn's 2,8 million there is still a lot of work to be done for Babbett and Co.

DeleteI am happy to say that I was one of those million passengers. I remember when I flew in early 2000s every few months and the airport was full of UN people flying daily to Kosovo while BEG was in taters. How things have changed.
