Low cost carrier Ryanair will end flights from Bergamo to both Banja Luka and Niš, which form part of several destinations to be discontinued from the Italian city. Services to Banja Luka will end of January 27 and to Niš on January 28. The airline said flights are being discontinued for operational reasons. Ryanair is also scraping services from Bergamo to Timisoara, Oradea and Suceava in Romania.
Wizz should respond and add flights from Nis!

DeleteNo one has to buy anything on a plane, a primary product you buy is the ticket, why are passengers being blamed that their spending habits are the ones that made an airline leave?
Most of people I know that used that same route are young people that saw the ticket prices as a chance to have a cheap city break in Italy, so if they are going to Italy for couple of days how much baggage do they need and why would they buy anything on such a short flight?
That should be an extra revenue for the company and not the main reason they fly anywhere.

Nis is still well connected to Milan via Belgrade, connection times are about 45 to 90 min and prices on economy light start at about 11 000rsd return which is still really good. Those that really need that route still have a way to go.

DeleteThe fact that Air Serbia and Belgrade airport in general are developing and expanding quickly the last few weeks, might have a negative influence on Niš airport.
ReplyDeleteNo because both INI and BEG got more flights to Corfu, Vienna and Basel. This route did not work out for them.

DeleteWith direct flights from INI to BEG Nis has a chance to grow since that connection made it much easier for people to travel to all AS network that is not small at all. I don`t see INI suffering because of BEG development, in fact that could be its chance to even grow more.
However, what I also don`t see is AirSerbia marketing that way of travel to the public in southern part of the country or even promoting transferring in INI for passengers that would travel HHN-IST, CGN-IST or LJU-IST since AS by far offers the cheapest price for those that want to travel between these destinations. No marketing for AirSerbia flying from Nis what so ever, same happened for the KVO-VIE route, people simply do not know that AS even offers such flights and connections.
Nis is soon gonna starve for flights and YU will take a monopoly there too. They are developing Beg like crazy while at the same time neglecting INI. No new low cost flights have been open in months with many being cancelled in favor of YU starting subsidized flights for crazy money.

ReplyDeleteFriday Sunday are perfect days, to spend weekend in Nis, instead of some days as Tuesday.

ReplyDelete90%+ at all times. A lot of Priority passengers due to baggage benefits, which means +15 euros per passenger per flight. On top of that, at least half of passengers were using Bergamo as connecting airport to other destinations covered by Ryanair. Also, quite a lot gastro destinations were using Bergamo as connecting airport to fly to INI.
DeleteYes, flights were cheep when booked months in advance, but so are from Sofia, no difference at all. However, if you buy 2 weeks before the flight, prices could go up to 250 euros (one way).
