NEWS FLASH
The Montenegrin Minister for Capital Investments, Ervin Ibrahiimović, has held talks with the Macedonian Ambassador to the country over the resumption of flights between Podgorica and Skopje. The Ministry noted there is demand for flights from Macedonia primarily for leisure purposes and that further talks will be held on the matter in the future. Last year, Skopje Airport said it was discussions with Air Montenegro over the potential introduction of flights from Podgorica to the Macedonian capital. The two cities were last linked with a nonstop air service in 2011 when Montenegro Airlines abruptly cancelled flights over fears its aircraft may be impounded due to unpaid fees. Later on, B&H Airlines operated its Sarajevo - Skopje service via Podgorica, although the carrier had no fifth freedom rights to sell tickets on the Podgorica - Skopje sector.

DeleteBoth passangers on those flights will be happy.
ReplyDeleteLet's see the commercial viability without having this route as PSO.... good luck.
ReplyDeleteA lot of tourism workers from Macedonia work, especially, in Tivat. Also, a lot of them from the south of Serbia(INI catchement area), so the flight would certainly be profitable... The Embraer 170/5 would be an ideal aircraft for all-year flights.
DeleteThe route cannot be profitable at all. 1. Tourism workers from Macedonia doesn't mean a thing - tourist season is July-Sep, so there will be difficulties during other 8-9 months. 2. INI catchment area will not travel to SKP to fly to TIV, not in numbers to have 2-3 weekly frequencies, not mentioning JU operating this route during peak period. 3. This is the attempt for MNE to operate SKP-TGD/TIV with E95, there is no 170/5 in the fleet, so there is no point mentioning such aircraft here. They are 'stuck' with 116-seater MNE has and whole-year operation cost money. As I said, this cannot be profitable without PSO and connecting traffic (which is obviously an issue for any Montenegrin carrier, as Airports in Montenegro don't have proper facilities for transit).
DeleteStenkovec Brazda-Budva seasonal with sea plane is the only profitable option
