This trip was taken recently between Istanbul and Belgrade, flying with TAROM via Bucharest. Although the cheaper and faster option was to travel nonstop with either Turkish Airlines or Air Serbia, this itinerary gave the opportunity to try out Romania’s national carrier. It involves the B737-700 from Bucharest to Istanbul, and the ATR72-600 from Bucharest to Belgrade. Hope you enjoy this ten-minute report.

Wow this looks identical to Jat Airways from 2013.
ReplyDeleteLiterally.
DeleteYeah especially the new ATRs look like Jat Airways...
DeleteWhat was the load on the flight to BEG? Cabin looked pretty full.
ReplyDeleteInteresting report, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAmazing trip report, I really enjoyed watching it!
ReplyDeleteTarom have gone downhill in terms of onboard service just like OU and JU! You might as well fly with Ryanair or Wizz nowadays!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the trip report, NYC Flyer. Even though they're next door, I've never flown Tarom; seems like a standard euroexperience, although they could have arranged for at least a bottle of water instead of the coffeecup... :D
ReplyDeleteThe OTP airport is nice actually.
DeleteIt's better than both Belgrade and Budapest.
Have you actually been to OTP?
DeleteIt's a relatively horrible airport, at least in my opinion. It's small, overcrowded and the old part where the check-in area and certain gates are located is from the 1980s.
Also, there is a limited selection of coffee shops upstairs and the food court downstairs is unreasonably expensive and very crowded.
Also, good luck if you are transferring within the EU via OTP. You have to make the entire journey to the check-in and then back to airside.
Overall nice trip report.
OTP is a hole.
DeleteYou haven't been there in a long time.
DeleteApparently.
I was there just before covid and I doubt much has changed, especially in terms of capacity and overall comfort.
DeleteBEG might not be a fantastic airport but after the upgrade it will be miles ahead of both Sofia and Bucharest.
Miles ahead, like getting a metro?
