NEWS FLASH
The Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) has announced plans to overhaul Sarajevo Airport’s existing control tower until a completely new one is built. The revamp of the existing control tower will improve workplace conditions, services and safety. The new-look structure will be modernised in line with the airport’s recently completed expanded terminal building. BHANSA plans to eventually build a new facility at a new location which will be determined jointly with Sarajevo Airport. The air service provider has released several renderings of the planned overhaul of the control tower (pictured). No firm timeframes have been given as to when work could begin. Plans to reconstruct Sarajevo Airport’s existing control tower were first announced back in 2019.
great news; the rendering indicate we finally get some trees back; even some airside greens
ReplyDeleteYep, that's exactly what the airport need, not an ILS to make it a reliable base for an airline.
ReplyDeleteILS can't remove the mountains around Sarajevo.
DeleteNo problem with the mountains. With a CAT IIIB ILS you can land in any weather and should not mind with the mountains (just like now). And yes, it could be installed in SJJ as it was proved several times before. It's only a question of willingness and investment.
DeleteILS CAT III B is not possible to be installed at LQSA, even ILS II is not possible due to rough terrain in the final approach area. Just ILS CAT I as it is now.
DeleteThat is not true. Plenty of flat space around the airport to install CAT III. It's just an excuse.
DeleteGo, go BiH! 🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦
ReplyDeleteNew terminal looks great. The design looks brutalistic. much more comforting than airports in serbia or croatia. Well done to who approved the design.
ReplyDeleteWill it be a multi-purpose ATC?
ReplyDeleteAbout a new routes from Sarajevo--we dream dreams
