Flydubai plans to increase frequencies on its flights to both Ljubljana and Zagreb this winter season which begins on October 29 and runs until March 30, 2024. The Dubai-based airline will initially run four weekly rotations to the Slovenian capital during the winter season, with additional services in early November, however, from December 18, the carrier will increase frequencies to daily which will be maintained for the remainder of the winter. “We see Ljubljana as a great opportunity. We will continue to work closely with the Slovenian Tourist Board and the government, as we believe that Slovenia is also a very interesting and attractive tourist destination for our residents”, Flydubai said.
The carrier also plans to up its frequencies to Zagreb, with a total of five weekly services. During the last week of the year, a total of six weekly flights are planned, in order to cater for increased demand around the Christmas and New Year holiday period, after which the service will return to five weekly rotations. Last winter season, Flydubai maintained four weekly services between the two cities. Emirates codeshares on both flights to Ljubljana and Zagreb. Flydubai uses Emirates’ Terminal 3 at Dubai Airport on both routes, rather than the low cost Terminal 2, enabling more seamless connections through Dubai’s international aviation hub.
During 2022, Flydubai handled a total of 50.771 passengers on its Zagreb operations. On the other hand, the airline welcomed 45.263 travellers on its Ljubljana flights. Apart from Ljubljana and Zagreb, the hybrid carrier will maintain double daily flights to Belgrade throughout the winter, as well as four weekly flights to Sarajevo. Over this coming winter season, Flydubai will feature its new business class product on select routes on its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Although the airline has not outlined which destinations will feature the new premium cabins, Belgrade, Ljubljana and Zagreb all stand a good chance of boasting the new product. The Business Suite (pictured below), designed exclusively for single-aisle aircraft, will see ten suites with a sliding suite door introduced to a number of the carrier’s aircraft before the end of 2023. The new seat will offer all passengers in business class direct aisle access, which rivals the business class experience on board many wide-body aircraft.
Excellent news for LJU. Daily already and flights started less than 2 yrs ago
ReplyDeleteOnly goes to show that people who wrote that Slovenes were an important factor for EK were right. Crazy that FZ will have more flights to LJU than ZAG!
DeleteBuddy, EK was not in ZAG for either Croatians of Slovenians. It was there for Far East and AUS/NZ transfers. It stopped with pLandemic. From those markets, they started travelling again, but numbers are not yet fully recovered. Once numbers get back to normal, EK will be back in ZAG. Again, not for Croatians nor for Slovenians. Flydubai perfectly fits both. And yes, Slovenians were travelling EK from ZAG of course, but are far away being an 'important factor" on any of the EK operations, ZAG included
DeleteCroatians or Slovenians
DeleteEK turned ZAG into a seasonal operation even before the plandemic. Obviously volume wasn't as big as they hoped it would be. Same with KE which cut ZAG but boosted VIE and BUD. I read somewhere that KE's LF to ZAG was just 66%.
DeleteWinter volume wasn't good enough. Fully agree. Seasonality is huge issue in Croatia and it will take time to change it. But in summer, EK in ZAG was very successful, with good LF and good yields. Once again, not because of passengers from Croatia abd/or Slovenia, but because of the pax from the Far East and Australia, which haven't yet been fully recovered.
DeleteI dont know why it is hard to admit that ZAG and LJU have about the same demand for Middle East. Have you checked TK numbers for ZAG and LJU for this year? The numbers are practically THE SAME.
DeleteI'm curious whether there is any official data to support any of these claims. Otherwise I can say that EK in ZAG was mainly for North Korean tourists.
Delete@12.26
DeleteI don't know who you are arguing with because you addressed no one. Concerning your post : Correct. LJU and ZAG have about the same demand to/from Middle East. Maybe LJU has it even slightly higher. But I am keeping speaking /writing about Far East and Australia passengers and cargo, what was the reason for EK in ZAG. I never ever mentioned ME pax. I don't get how difficult is it to understand?
As you said, both of them have the same demand for the Middle East and both of them should have more connections to the Middle East. The first thing for LJU is of course to get Qatar flights and some connection to Saudi Arabia and the same for Zagreb (like Flynas or someone to Riyadhor Jeddah)
Delete*Riyadh or Jeddah typo
DeletePlandemic is gone and why haven't the Asians come back? I assume that is why EK did not rush to bring back their ZAG flights? Is that why they let FZ boost their flights to both LJU and ZAG?
DeleteAs for Middle East, both LJU and ZAG are handled by JU and TK and even A3 struggled to break through this JU-TK wall.
ZAG needs all the good news it can get. This winter season did not start well for it with Ryanair discontinuing TGD flights. MAN, SOF and SKG are still uncertain, I pray those are not terminated.
ReplyDeleteOU is also cutting SKP, SJJ, SPU and BRU in the next two weeks due to crew shortages. Not good Time for Wizz to launch SKP-ZAG
DeleteSure they will, right after they start SKP-LJU
Delete@09.26
DeleteYou see how brilliant mind Jasmin is!!!!! 😃 His crew will have summer holidays, will be happy for it, and not demand him to quit. Next, with huge losses with more flights, there will be less losses with less flights. And next, he is thinking green, less flights, less polution, less CO2. And finally, what better guarantee one needs for fantastic results of brand new shiny A220 fleet, with such a genius leading one of the most prominent and the most prestigious World-class Airlines 😃
Interesting, they handled almost the same number of passengers on both routes.
ReplyDeleteWill be interesting to see 2023 numbers… i flew 2 times with flydubai from ljubljana and both times there were many Italians snd Austrians on the plane. Even a group from Pula.
DeleteWhat were the loads like?
DeleteOn my first flight Lju-dbx LF was 60% (it was at the beginning when they started flying) on my second flight LF in economy was 80% in business 100%
DeleteNice. I have a feeling they may have good premium loads from/to LJU.
DeleteYes. Business has good LF most of the time. On my both flights back it was 90%+ LF.
DeleteGood news
ReplyDeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteSame energy as "Montenegro keeps winning!"
DeleteWonder if we will ever see Emirates back in Zagreb
ReplyDeletei really really hope so
DeleteI think they will be back when they get smaller planes like the Dreamliner.
Delete2024 A359 and 2025 B789 are arriving to EK.
DeleteThere I see potential for sure to BEG, but also ZAG at least during SUTT.
FZ can't make daily ZAG work but you think EK can fill a massive widebody? I don't see it happening. If EK launches anything in the region it will be BEG.
Delete^ well they flew to Zagreb for 3 years with a B777
DeleteYes thanks to subsidies they got. Back then there were also no flights to LJU and the route to ZAG was reduced the first winter before it was made seasonal. Obviously EK saw how many Slovenians were onboard which is why FZ will have more flights to LJU than to ZAG.
DeleteLJU will not have more flights than ZAG anymore. Now it is daily in system (jan, feb 2024) but many flights will be cancelled like many times before in LJU. Also from spring 2024 there are 4 weekly flights for LJU again, which does not make any sense if there is daily flights in half of winter season.
Delete^ it is because summer 2024 schedule has not been concluded. It it's just repeat from this year in the system. Although it is worth noting that high season in Dubai is November- April.
Deletewinter 2024 schedule has not been concluded as well :)
DeleteOh ok so Zagreb might go down to 4x weekly after all.
DeleteThey inserted these increases for winter in the last week. So this is their plan.
Delete@09.28
DeleteEK had no subsidies in ZAG, it is total lie you want to become true if repeated multiple times. EK was in ZAG for tourists from the Far East and Australia, what stopped with the pLandemic, and has not been fully recovered yet, and that's why FZ operates now
EK in ZAG got a nice big cheque from Udruzeno oglasavanje, they even said it themselves.
DeleteUdruzeno oglasavanje is peanuts. It's not even hidden subsidy. And Udruzeno oglasavanje is project which still goes on. If it was the only or the crucial reason for EK to come to ZAG, why haven't they returned already? The answer is : Still lacking Far East and Australia transfers in numbers which would make their ops profitable.
DeleteLet’s be honest. EK wont be back in ZG anytime soon.
DeleteLet's be a little bit patient and wait a year or two. Honesty and wishes has nothing to do with which other 😃
DeleteWell its 3 years since pandemic. All markets are fully open. The point is - market has changed. That’s is why they are not back. Simply because demand is not there. That’s is why im sayin lets be honest and stop pretending like they are about to start flying. They wont. We will see EK in belgrade before zagreb. I wish they would fly from zagreb but in reality those days are gone.
DeleteI think that they will soon start getting EK back to Zag or Lju with the arrival of B787 to their fleet. Would be nice to have some kind of combination of flights with FlyDubai
DeleteTurkish increasing ZAG operations. Qatar increasing ZAG operations. Flydubai increasing ZAG operations. China still almost closed and restricted. Korea and Japan on much lower levels than before, but no way those two would stop travelling or change preferences. And Australia and NZ are also likely to grow further. So in reality there are plenty of reasons to expect EK back in ZAG, including their statement about assesing ZAG market constantly.
DeleteChina, Korea and Japan are completely open.
DeleteI think we can expect to see them back in ZAG in the next two years. If the loads and everything are really as good as they say on FlyDubai flights to ZAG and LJU, they will surely send B787 (when they get it) once or twice a week very soon to either of them but most probably ZAG because it's bigger, they already used to fly to Zagreb and LJU has Venice pretty close as well as they fly daily to Venice already.
DeleteWhat Are the Teo other destinations
DeleteI have kind of problem with people who don't understand what I talk about, or with people who answer the facts with opinions. That's why I quit this discussion.
DeleteThis is classic Pozdrav
DeleteWe know what you are talking about we just don't agree with you. By the way, I read your comments on another portal so I know what you really think of BEG and Serbia. ;)
DeleteMatter of fact is that Asian links were improved everywhere in the region: BEG, BUD and VIE.
Yet ZAG lost it all, from EK to KE. I am still waiting for an answer why is that. If LO and KE boosted BUD-ICN then why didn't EK and FZ see more South Koreans flying to ZAG? Could it be that Zagreb failed to bring them back after the pandemic
OU failed to fill in the gap with A321LR, they even didn't try...would it kill them to do a proper study which long haul destinations are missing in the ex-yu and then give it a try? Pozdrav is right all the time...Jasmin is busy with maintaining low profile in order not to screw up too much....
DeleteAs I said, I would not discuss anymore EK in ZAG. Future will show who was right. But I have to say something about "my comments on another portal and what I really think of BEG and Serbia".
DeleteYou said everything with this. You are someone who speaks about and for himself as "we", someone who hate others because of geography of their nick, someone so blinded by chauvinism and hate, reflecting it to the counterpart, and finally someone inventing lies and presenting his wishes as reality. My advise, for your benefit : seek professional help
How about Skp?
ReplyDeleteThere are no flights scheduled.
DeleteThey scheduled daily ops from ljubljana a few times already but it never materialised
ReplyDeleteI wonder which destinations provide the biggest feeds onto Flydubai's flights to both Ljubljana and Zagreb.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly it was once said that quite a few Slovenians actually fly just to Dubai. But other destinations were Tokyo, Delhi, Sydney, and Singapore.
DeleteAll kinds of pax: expats (white, west) based in Dubai travelling to Slovenia for joga classes etc., Dubai is a good place for earning, for some foreigners but not good for vacations. People from Slovenia: yes many (more before) but more and more others now.
DeleteActually ZAG had more pax than LJU in 2022 even LJU had more flights than ZAG.
ReplyDeleteI think they had the same amount of flights. Both are four weekly.
DeleteIt was different from month to month
DeleteNo, LJU had 5 weekly flights last year, ZAG had 4 (only short time in summer it was 5). In 2023 ZAG has 5, and LJU 4. If you see the mumbers, you can see why they dont fly more to LJU.
DeleteAlso I highly doubt they will fly daily in LJU after new year, they always fill many flights and cancel them few months before, especially in LJU.
It was different monthy by month, but in total, LJU had more flights than ZAG in 2022. We will see the real frequencies after LJU airport discounts will not be applied anymore.
DeleteThose seats look amazing for a narrow body!
ReplyDeleteThis is literally non-news knowing how flydubai operates with their schedules.
ReplyDeleteI think that LJU and ZAG need more ME connections. AUH would be a great addition maybe by Wizzair. Now with Schengen, whoever gets the route is no problem. People can move freely.
ReplyDeleteZAG will simply become an LJU alternative or viceversa in the future....fact in many other EU countries.
And that is the point of eu and schengen… thing slovenians know for many years now…
Delete
