Wizz Air discontinues one more Tuzla route

NEWS FLASH

Wizz Air will discontinue flights between Hahn and Tuzla from October 30, bringing its total number of terminated routes from its former base in Bosnia and Herzegovina to twelve. Wizz previously announced the closure of its Tuzla base operations from mid-September. It initially planned to cancel eleven routes, leaving only Hahn, Basel, Dortmund and Memmingen in service. However, it has now opted to discontinue the Hahn flights as well. Services on the route are currently maintained five times per week.

Why would you stop a route with "5 weekly flights" I still can't figure out what's going on?

Currently five weekly, goes down to 2 weekly next month and cancelled from October. Highly seasonal diaspora traffic.

As they will close their TZL base this would mean that a plane from another base must serve the route which is far from being perfect and very complicated to schedule as well as dangerous in case of delays as the staff might run out of flight hours. For example the Banja Luka- Basel flights are operated now by a Bulgarian based plane which flies SOF-EAP-BNX-EAP-SOF with the same crew all the way over. If there are substantial delays on more than one leg this would mean that all the following will be cancelled and the plane won't be returning to SOF cancelling many other flights. I think Wizz just don't wanna risk it.

Hamburg Banja Luka is served by Wizz plane from Belgrade. It starts in BG and fly to Malmö, than Hamburg Banja Luka

Frankfurt is not highly seasonal diaspora traffic, there are many young Bosnian people travelling for leisure or to see their cousins as well, in fact that's the majority of their pax

Wizz will definitely reduce flights to 3 destinations from Tuzla because they are with A321. I don't expect more than 2 weekly flights each route

Which airline do you think passengers will use after Wizz pulls out?

Let's see if Wizz brings back BEG-HHN in the future. They are making a killing in Berlin and Memmingen, they could try this one again.

Altough I would like it to happen I do not think W6 will bring back BEG-HHN.

No single cancelled destination was brought back from Belgrade.

They will use new Tuzla canton airlines, GoAT Tuzla Airways

They also stopped short of promoting their new routes on social media. Maybe because a year later they don't exist….

They've reduced many flights from the UK also this winter. It wouldn't surprise me if they go out of business by next Spring

Yes. Tuzla will break them. They reduced flights from London because of major issues with engines on new neo planes which they operate out of the UK.

They are also in trouble with the CAA for not compensating passengers for delays.

They are also terminating all flights from Kukes in Albania, they are obviously leaving these low yielding markets.

Out of business? Wow, some people here really have no idea what they are talking about. It’s quite sad.

So that means 150.000 pax max next year… if not even less. Such a shame :(

They have a major problem with the engines, they had to cancel or reduce many routes from Budapest as well, so Tuzla was probably a no brainer for them, they would rather cancel everything in Tuzla than some major European airport.

Yeah this engine problem I expect will mean them reducing their winter schedule and probably see more cancelled routes. The CEO said as much when they announced results. It will definitely mean disruption to their schedule. Although imagine other carriers in Europe will also be impacted.

Rubbish. They are cutting some of their planned growth in bases they opened recently. Tuzla is an old base operated with old aircraft, and they're shutting it down completely.

Tuzla is a town in the middle of nowhere. Wizz likes more to cut bases and routes in such places than in other European destinations

TZL will be fine in time. Don’t worry about them. Potential is there.

Yes, great potential really. When Wizz has gone the question is, who will shut down the light

I think their are now focus on Abu Dhabi base. And they need planes for operating that routes. It's way cheaper to close base in Tuzla. I dont think they have balls to canceled flys from Abu Dhabi. If they will than I think they can close base. In midle east you have many airlines to fly with them.
