Sarajevo Airport handles millionth passenger

NEWS FLASH

Sarajevo Airport welcomed its millionth traveller of the year, achieving the milestone for only the fourth time in its history. The figure was reached around a week behind that of last year. It comes after Wizz Air closed its base at the airport in November of 2022, which has resulted in a decline in passenger numbers during much of this year’s summer season. “This is a clear indication that, with great effort, we managed to largely maintain the volume of passengers from the previous year. We are committed to maintaining our successful operations and achieving sound business results", the airport said in a statement. Last year, Wizz Air had the most available capacity at Sarajevo Airport with 465.444 seats on the market (excludes Wizz Air Abu Dhabi). However, this year, Turkish Airlines is the largest carrier, followed by Austrian Airlines and Pegasus.

Two planes with three flights a day would add about 600,000, the low-load numbers show. That is, they had 60% occupied seats.

Traitors?? Is it possible you don't understand that you pay for the stability. Wizz is extremely cheap, but that only means they can just pack up and leave whenever they see a cent more of profit elsewhere. TK and OS won't leave but that kind of comfort costs more.

This shows how low LF there are flights on Wizz Air from SJJ. Setting up a base in close proximity to TZL was an extremely bad idea. But it was all about subsidies...
They took the money and moved on. Way to go.

LF was really low. W6 was competing against itself in the TZL.
    In short:
    1. BNX is growing a lot with FR and attracts passengers from around TZL (as well as the entire north of the country).
2.W6 was losing out on this but BEG was also picking up passengers. Wizz in TZL had no low goods.
    3. They came to SJJ just for the money....then they said "bye"...along with that they killed their base in TZL, at that time there are two losing bases (TZL, SJJ).
    4. Finally they decided to close TZL too because they can earn more elsewhere (as well as the fog).
    5. So today SJJ is as before (LH, OS, TK, OU, JU), BNX is the second busiest airport, TZL is BNX - in the past.

In general, it is not a disaster that Wizz Air left. Traditional carriers increased frequencies. There may be connections with Germany and Scandinavia. But I would still say that OS, TK, LO, LX, TK responded and increased the frequencies.
TZL lost more but BNX and BEG will take care.

I honestly think a national carrier would be useful.
3X E190. 2 in SJJ, 1 in TZL and maye for flights to BNX.
From SJJ and TZL to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Oslo, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Baden-Baden, Vienna, Geneva, Basel, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich.

Bosnia struggles to plan bus stops lets alone a national airline. The market needs to be free and open and in time LCCs from outside will return properly. The issue are politicians who are frightenly unskilled running the county poorly that has driven wizzair away.

Too many airports in a small country.

It is really stupid if the route is not increased for political reasons. It's also full up to BNX. If anyone is reading from JU, please consider additional flights. It would be a good addition after W6 left Tuzla. BTW OU will add additional frequency for a total of 14 weekly flights (all with Dash).

Actually TZL people will come for IST, FRA, SAW, VIE….
BEG is close for them but yes SJJ people would be happy.
So far I have only used JU from SJJ once. SJJ-BEG-LCA. There was quite a bit of p2p during the flight but I would say the flight was more transfers.

Sarajevo remains an airport for traditional carriers. It is good that for many years we have good carriers such as Lufthansa, Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Air Serbia, besides which they offer key destinations and very good transfers and also often.
W6 laundered the money and moved on. Way to go, cheater! Go steal from Saudi Arabia.
