NEWS FLASH
Wizz Air has closed its base at Tuzla Airport, just over eight years after stationing its first aircraft in the city. During the week, the airline discontinued the majority of its operations out of Tuzla and relocated its two stationed aircraft. Local cabin crew have been offered the possibility to transfer to other bases. Wizz Air will continue to maintain operations from Basel, Dortmund and Memmingen to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second busiest airport, which it has deemed as its three most profitable routes to Tuzla. Services to Hahn, the only other remaining route in addition to the abovementioned trio will end in late October. This coming winter season, Wizz Air will provide a total of 82.100 seats on its Tuzla operations (both inbound and outbound combined) down 72.7% on the previous winter. Furthermore, the figure is down 75.9% on the 340.200 seats it initially put on sale on its Tuzla services for the coming winter before deciding to shut its base. Wizz Air has said a “challenging macroeconomic environment, along with complicated weather conditions, such as frequent fogs” have made it impossible to operate a large network from Tuzla Airport. For its part, Tuzla Airport has said it is in talks with “regional carriers” over replacing a part of Wizz Air’s traffic.
Sad
ReplyDeleteWhy?
DeleteMaybe because many people working at the airport are about to lose their jobs.

Imaju bazu u Beogradu pa neka predju. Kako putnici tako i radnici.

DeleteCuj da predju...kao da je to desetak kilometara!
DeleteThose with Serbian passport can move, but for those with BiH passport it’s impossible.
DeleteWizz Air did NOT offer TZL based crew to move to BEG, but rather to TIA, KUT and AUH.
DeleteEven if they moved, would you really trust Wizz Air? Imagine moving to a different country and then Wizz closes its base again.
DeleteChargari
DeleteIt happened with many crew (not particularly from ex-Yu area) to move to Dortmund, Oslo, Doncaster... and to come back after few months.
DeleteThe Goat (Wizz) has gone.
DeleteMaybe their business model is not working now due some changes that happened in the market? I can't imagine weather being too different over the years
ReplyDeleteA much stronger and more successful base in Belgrade. Much stronger BNX with Ryanair flights, JU.
DeleteThey publicly stated that bases that can’t grow beyond 3 AC are not profitable and therefore are not in their focus.

DeleteWell, at least they left three destinations. The summer timetable 2024 follows and these routes remain three times a week. Interestingly, for example, Ryanair flies daily from Munich to BNX.
ReplyDeleteFR is one of the reasons that W6 closes TZL.
DeleteThe summer schedule of Wizz Air is not finished yet, they only put random weekly rotations on the routes, therefore we dont know if those three routes will be operated three or more times per week. I know this cuz they had put three weekly flights from Skopje to Paris and Nuremberg which is not going to happen when the season comes. They will further update the schedule at least 10 times till then, so we dont know anything at this point.
Delete@16.44 but you know everything
Deleteand why NUE cannot be 3 weekly? Have you ever taken it? I have and I can tell you its always full
DeleteIts me 16:44, no i have never taken it but i have taken Treviso 20+ times and it has always been full even in November and February, still not increaed to three weekly.
Delete@17:20 I didnt say that i know everything, i am just saying what i know and what i have experienced, no need for such a comment, but if that makes you happy, i am sorry for you!
so its based on nebuloza that you think NUE cannot be 3 weekly. brilliant. Every flight with Wizz from SKopje is full regardless where you fly. NUE is the only two weekly german route. NO surprise its going up to 3
DeleteWell NUE is scheduled 3x, BRE 2x and FKB 3x, so two routes will be reduced but NUE will be increased. Anyway the schedule will change until then.
DeleteWith or without Wizz Air it's the same. It's just that the other airports - BNX, SJJ, BEG - will win now.
ReplyDeleteEspecially BNX with their 5 destinations and huge cuts comparing to last winter ... :D
DeleteOf course is the same if you consider that nobody of the diaspora will now come with car from Sweden, Denmark or Northern Germany, they will still use the aviation industry. But it is not the same cause now people need to go to BEG or Banja Luka ( Cause Banja Luka has wide network you know ). If it is the same then why the government of Slovenia wants to open national carrier? People can go to VCE or ZAG. Your comment is nonsence which is expected as you clearly do not have any knowlegde of aviation or common sense.
DeleteBNX?? Who is going to use Banja Luka as an alternative? Ryanair is going to stop flying to Berlin, Brussels and Nuremberg. BEG is the only real alternative.
DeleteAnon 17:14: who mentioned Berlin or Brussels. Brussels comes from April again and till than they can fly wit Wizz from Dortmund to Banja Luka.
DeleteTo which bases did The Wizz Tuzla staff get a possibilty to transfer. Probably BEG, maybe SKP, SOF, TIA. The pilots are probably gonna accept every offer they get but the stewardesses/stewards are probably gonna go to another field. 3 hour drive between Tuzla and Belgrade is simply too long for to stay and live in Tuzla.
ReplyDeleteShame about the staff. Flight attendants should hope for Trade Air.
DeleteIf you want professional development in B&H, it is best to go as a dispatcher. Everything else is a complete lie. Maybe just line maintenance services too.
DeleteWhich company offers line maintenance in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
DeleteCabin crew to TIA, KUT or AUH. None of these were options for majority, as expected. Pilots were anyway based in BUD/TZL half/half. So I assume they got BUD.
DeleteI would go to Kutaisi
DeleteThey have low salaries in Tirana, which is not affordable as you need to spend half of the money for rent plus you need to live far away from home, same is for AUH.
DeleteIsn’t this good moment for AS to add Tuzla as a destination?
ReplyDelete2X weekly morning flights will work. With departure 05:00.
DeleteYes. Let's start more nonsense flights... BEG-TZL is barely 3h. If we ever join EU, BEG-INI, BEG-BNX and similar routes will be banned.
DeleteNo. InGreece still work and Croatia ;))
DeleteAs well as in Germany, LH has 20min flights from FRA to NUE, STR, DUS, as well as in Romania, Tarom has flights from OTP to all other cities. Gluposti
DeleteFrankfurt-Dusseldorf has a flying time of 30 minutes and block time of 45.
Deleteyou are comparing BEG-TZL with FRA-DUS?
Delete@17:16 and Frankfurt - Nuremberg is 26 minutes not 20. I am so so sooo sorry that i didnt say the correct numbers which anyone with common sense would understand what was the point of my comment. What do you want me to say to you now? Bravo?
Delete@17:22 I was comparing the distance and the flight times of the routes cuz somebody here said that EU will not allow such routes. My opinion, BEG-TZL is a joke and will never happen, but that does not mean that such routes are not allowed in EU. Ugh i cant understand some people here!
It will be very funny if TZL is part of the 2024 JU expansion😄
DeleteI hope it is not going to be.
DeleteIt wont
DeleteWhy this route will don't work? Routes as this works, INI for example. JU have big network, small and nearest cities will work because they will get connections via Belgrade not for poin to poin passengers. Nis works, TZL also will work with good flight times( not in night, or in the moments that JU don't have more flights).
DeleteJU can start double daily flights in the morning and evening BNX BEG via TZL. That would be a catch.
DeleteI'd rather fly BEG - TZL than organize other means of transport from BEG to Tuzla.
