Air Serbia rolls out new uniform

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia rolled out its new crew uniforms today (click for more photos), worn by its pilots, cabin crew, as well as ground staff at the Premium Lounge in Belgrade and sales agents at all the company's retail stores. The uniform was presented last evening at an event in Belgrade celebrating the carrier’s tenth anniversary under its current name. The garments were designed by Milena Bojić and manufactured by Lus Textile. The toques were made by Ercegovac, and scarves and hats by Tribeca. "The uniform is the first thing passengers see, however, functionality is an absolute priority for Air Serbia cabin and flight crew. We worked on designing and perfecting the uniforms for more than six months. I tried to create uniforms that are visually attractive but simultaneously comfortable. I hope I succeeded in that", Ms Bojić said. Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, noted, “Our company cultivates a unique blend of traditional and modern features in its operations. Proud of our glorious past, we are looking into the future. With this idea in mind, we created our new uniforms, which include the elements of Serbian tradition and culture, while being elegant and modern at the same time. I am sure that our colleagues will wear them with pride, and serve as ambassadors of their country and the Serbian national airline”.

It looks better now than it did yesterday. I still don’t like the buttons though!

Anyhow, good luck AS and all the best.

Certainly looks much better on those pictures, yet real impression can be made once we see them live. Looking forward to my next flight soon.

Mixed feelings. A bit retro but kinda matches with the company brand with the Serbian colours. The Balkan embroidery pattern are cool. Compared to Aegean though, there is HUGE difference.

I really like how they incorporated a national simbols (not sure what’s the exact name for those drawings) . At the end it’s AirSerbia, not Etihad or someone else. Previous uniforms looked way to much “arabic” for my taste, now it’s perfect. Good job!

It's a motif from the Pirot carpet. It is also on some of the windows of the new terminal in BEG.

Oh and the Pirot carpet is a registered brand of Serbia on the UNESCO heritage listing

I believe "rug" should be more appropriate for "ćilim", carpet has one use only while "ćilim" is somewhat different.

Eto, došli smo do toga da nam stjuardese nose pregaču. Bravo. Fail.

It looks really amateurish and impractical with all those buttons. Imagine going through security with all that metal! Even JAT's old uniforms showcased yesterday from the 1960s and 1970s looked much better. The ladies seem to be wearing really long skirts like the Amish ladies on a horse and buggy. The dudes look like they are coming from an 1980s themed trivia night. Really really bad, especially for Air Serbia's image as a modern carrier. If they wanted an ethno theme, then they should have gone full on narodna nosnja like some flight attendants used to do on JAT long haul when welcoming passengers.

New uniforms, boarding music and new look website are just smoke and mirrors in my opinion, to distract from failures to launch new long haul destinations.

Yeah I mean they launched just 24 routes this year including long haul route less than 5 months ago. They really needed smoke and mirrors for armchair CEOs. Not to mention that in the text it says new uniforms have been under preparation for over 6 months.

Since you asked for it, Air Serbia announced Chicago during June of 2022, sixteen months ago. They point out how quickly they responded to market demand when Adria collapsed but they still can't make a decision if Toronto can be announced, years and years after Air Serbia team made initial visit to Toronto during Dane Kondic years. Where is quick response now? Now they are being told long haul expansion will take a decade!

Air Serbia quickly responded during Covid but they failed to make quick decision last year to take advantage of lower lease rates for 3rd and 4th A330. Non-armchair CEO failed to realize growing demand would increaese lease rates and reduce market availability, damaging China and NA expansion.

Uniforms were expected to be cherry on top, not the main course at 10 year anniversary celebration.

Drama queens much? I remember when the first uniform was revealed 10 years ago. Everyone was spitting on it, saying it looks bad and that it is arab. Now it is suddenly the most beautiful uniform. Same will happen in 10 years with this one when they introduce a new one.

People not liking the uniforms are not haters. They are just questioning the competence of a management team which appears to have made a very fundamental mistake of choosing an impractical and probably dangerous uniform. I may be shiny if it is a flamable polyester (a big no-no) and not wool. Those buttons will delay the crew going through security at every major airport. The buttons will catch on everything on board including passengers, seats, trolleys etc. How practical is it should an aircraft be evacuated. Will it pierce the slides? How does this in with our brand image? Seems like no one in management asked very basic safety and brand questions. And yes, they missed the opportunity to rebuild their short and long haul fleet during COVID and hence the mess with the hotch potch of aircraft operating on their behalf in summer. And the delays. So professional of them. In retrospect, their decision to cancel their A320neo order looks foolish with deliveries now pushed out for a very very long time.

Dont write nonsense. The new uniforms were an instant success and showed that a real makeover of the whole brand was happening.
