PHOTOS: Belgrade Airport construction update

NEWS FLASH

Work on various projects at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport site continue to advance.

The first new conveyer belts in the baggage claim area, which is being redesigned, have been installed with all baggage carousels to be replaced, and additional ones added.

Work continues on a new duty-free retail area spanning almost 3.000 square metres. Furthermore, progress is being made on adding additional passport control booths in arrivals, as well as eGates. On the second floor, in the A wing arrivals, travelators will be installed in the corridors.

Asphalting of Belgrade Airport’s former (and future) runway is currently taking place, with rapid exit taxiways also being connected between the inserted runway (future parallel taxiway) and main runway. At the same time, construction work on part of taxiway G, between gates A1 and A5 is taking place.

A number of other projects at the airport complex are progressing, including the expansion of the check-in area, which will complement the 28 check-in desks installed this year in the new central processor building. Overall, the airport will boast some ninety check-in desks.

I agree especially as Air Serbia want to attract more transfer passengers. It's a shame that Walter are opening by the airport and not inside departures or places like that. Need restaurants and like a bar, Dogma or Brewdocker would be good showcasing local beers with sports screens etc.. There is definitely room I believe.

^ It turned out that they do not have all the necessary permits to build there. So the inspection responsible closed their construction site and ordered them to remove everything built. We will see what happens.

    9. It's a privately run building. I do agree for the rest of the country but inside of the airport VINCI has the last word who can come in.

Walter wouldn't be a bad choice because it's Serbian-Balkan food. It's a name easy for a lot of foreigners to remember.

I would personally prefer Totally Good Bakery to be there for the locals.

They really need shops/cafes fast. Empty space, temp-old duty free feel now. I know its still work in progress, but it takes them a long time. Shops will 'open' the airport which already suffers from a bit of claustrophobic/maze feel to it. Don't' get me wrong, this is huge improvement vs. old, but I thing with modern shops/cafes/restaurants it will get 'full circle' complete look to it.

Didn't ask about that but this:

      https://www.exyuaviation.com/2022/07/air-serbia-plans-separate-airport-zone.html

Air Serbia plans to have a dedicated zone for business class passengers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport once the latter’s ongoing expansion is completed. The carrier’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “In the expanded terminal, we plan to have a dedicated separate zone for passengers flying business class, which will be more alike a hotel lobby than a standard airport terminal”

      more:

      https://www.exyuaviation.com/2023/03/air-serbia-to-trial-on-board-streaming.html

Air Serbia also plans to elevate its ground experience with the opening of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport new central processor building, especially for business class passengers. “Part of the VIP carpark will be dedicated to Air Serbia, from where there will be a bridge to the new facility, offering seamless movement of passengers. At the end of the bridge, there will be a dedicated and branded Air Serbia entrance and after entering the building, straight ahead you will be welcomed by dedicated separate business class desks. By separate, I mean there will be a glass-wood partition going up to the ceiling or a little bit below which will have a glass door, and inside there will be refreshments, as well as four to six check-in counters, hotel lobby-style. It may come a bit after the new facility opens as it will need a lot of fine-tuning, however this development is not fully on us. It requires synergies and coordination with the airport operator, additional discussions are ongoing and we strongly hope that we will be able to achieve this together before the summer season”, Mr Marek said. He added, “The majority of the check-in desks in the new building will be dedicated to Air Serbia. We are also, in cooperation with the airport operator, developing a new service desk with an open-space U-shape style design with eight agent seats as an additional touchpoint for our customers”.

      Delete
    4. Anonymous12:01

They are not cleaner. The level of people they employ probably has never lived better toilets at their homes, let alone public spaces. When management is weak the output is of similar quality. Last month I flew from Belgrade to Vienna, I used the toilet next to Dufry business lounge. A few days earlier I used the toilet at the baggage claim area. The BAS level of service. After landing to Vienna I used a toilet at their baggage claim area. Clean, fresh odor, soap and paper towels supplies in order, garbage baskets empty. Updated cleaning order report, with, whose else than Serbian names. I guess that not the best of the class students went to clean Vienna toilets, so it must not be their home habits that they brought to work, but a managed service that is paid by the airport to a cleaning and waste contractor which is accountable to the contract signed with the Airport. Therefore a chain of established values -> defined service level -> accountability -> justified cost is definitely missing at NT.
I complained and this is what the answer was:

LOL government owned does not mean it's owned by the taxpayers. Not in any country in the world.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous06:24

It literally means that, government owned means it is owned by the people since the people elect the government. That same government uses income from taxes which are paid by the citizens ergo citizens are the bosses of every government.

In this case Serbian citizens elect the Serbian government which runs government institutions and companies among which are Air Serbia and BEG. Who do you think paid for Jat debts? Taxpayers.

So instead of LOLing maybe educate yourself a bit more.
