NEWS FLASH
Aeroitalia will commence a new two weekly seasonal summer service between Ancona and Split. Flights will commence on July 6 and initially run once per week, before increasing to two weekly from August 7. Operations on the route will be maintained until August 31. An ATR72-600 turboprop, wet-leased from Romania’s Air Connect, will be deployed between the two coastal cities. Further flight details can be found here. ReplyDeleteI am sure SPU will be no problem, there were always flow of passengers between Split and Ancona. But for RJK, I am not so sure, even if operated on behalf of tour operator. I flew Rijeka to Ancona and back, while European Coastal was operating hydroplanes on the route. I was the ONLY passenger to Ancona, and we were 4 coming back. But let's hope an agency can sell enough packages to operate RJK as well, even for two months. RJK needs anything it can get.

DeletePozdrav, maybe there were just not enough people interested in extreme sports :) As far as I remeber ECA operated some very old aircraft and had problems with maintenance and safety overall.
DeleteCheck ECA total numbers and you'll realize that many many many people are interested in extreme sports, much more than you can imagine. 😃 Btw, maintenance and safety problems were official excuse why their AOC was withdrawn. We had official excuses like that one in case of Air Adriatic and Dubrovnik Airline AOC withdrawals, which did not entirely correspond with reality. Let me remind you as well of Anic Airways, Air Croatia (the first one) Dalmatian.hr...
DeleteThe only croatian company allowed to operate in Croatia (ridiculous PSO operated by TDR excluded), is Croatia Airlines. Trade Air, ETF and Fly 41 have their AOC's under condition not to start scheduled operations. The same day they would dare doing it, they would be eliminated

DeleteECA was truly fantastic - what a big loss, I too miss them very much. Imagine departing from split harbour, the really low cruising altitudes, the scenic landing on the islands. Can't believe they didn't get all possible support from the government just to promote the country and its over 1000 islands, also to swiftly connect islanders to the mainland (where were PSOs there?)

So we're talking about how many flights, 12 or 13? And to be operated with ATR, so the total seat capacity (one way) is not even 1000? :)

DeleteAncona is closer to Split than Zagreb. Ancona - Split is just 200 km air distance.
