Air Montenegro will post a net profit of two million euros for 2023 and anticipates a successful year ahead, which will see the carrier launch four new routes, with plans to grow its passenger numbers by some 35%. Speaking to the “MINA” news agency, Air Montenegro’s CEO, Mark Anžur, said, “The airline will have a net profit of two million euros, or four million euros before tax, which we believe is an achievement, considering the company is just three years old and has consolidated both financially and organisationally. So, I think we are on the right path. We carried 480.000 passengers in 2023, which is 30% above the previous year. The plan for 2024 is approximately 650.000 passengers. Therefore, the growth will be considerable, and we are happy with that”.
During the ongoing winter season, Air Montenegro launched a new service between Podgorica and Rome, which Mr Anžur said the airline is so far “very happy with”. During the 2024 summer season, it will introduce seasonal operations from Podgorica to Munich and Ostrava, as well as from Tivat to Baku and Izmir. It will also grow operations on the Tivat - Belgrade route by adding a fourth daily flight on select days between the two cities over the peak of the summer season for a total of 24 weekly rotations. “In 2024 we plan to have five aircraft in service. We will have four Embraers and one Airbus A320 for additional capacity”, Mr Anžur noted. As a result, Air Montenegro will have one additional aircraft compared to last summer, with the A320 to be wet-leased this year from Croatia’s Trade Air.
Mr Anžur noted that geopolitics, as well as significant competition from Turkish carriers are presenting themselves as a challenge. “We had some operational issues, notably with slots at Tel Aviv, the war in Israel, as well as, somewhat unexpectedly, the additional capacity by Turkish carriers on our service to Istanbul, which created additional competition and we believe that there is already too much capacity on this route now”. He added, “It is important for us not only to focus on profitability but also take into account Montenegro’s interests and deliver year-round connectivity, which includes the winter months as well, so we can provide the citizens of Montenegro service which would otherwise not be there”.
Montenegro keeps winning!

DeleteGde je sad onaj "strucnjak" iz kucne fotelje koji je tvrdio da Montenegro radi pogresno i da ce imati finansijski fijasko?

"The jets will be dry-leased for between three and a half and six years, with delivery due between December 2023 and March 2024. It is possible for the contract to be extended. Only E190 and E195 aircraft in an all-economy class layout with at least 110 seats will be taken into consideration."
DeleteThank you
DeleteWell done Air Montenegro
ReplyDeleteSo with 650,000 will they overtake Montenegro Airlines' passenger numbers?
ReplyDeleteThey will be close. Montenegro Airlines had 657 276 passengers in 2019.
DeleteWow growing very quickly. at this pace they could have the same size fleet by the time OU completes their change to the A220.
ReplyDeleteIm glad that so far me and most people were wrong what the result will be when Anzur got the job. Would be great for him to keep doing well.
Great job, especially considering that Montenegro no longer has the amount of Russian tourists it had before the Russian invasion.
ReplyDeleteAerodromi Crne Gore are very "generous" to airlines ;)
ReplyDeleteGood route additions
ReplyDeleteBravo 4O!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! This was not expected!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness they gave up on that Tuzla base idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd they still don't sell transfer tickets...

DeleteNot being able to have codeshares or connecting flights is a huge issue and something they should have dealt with 3 years ago when they started flying.
+100
DeleteWhy is Air Montenegro A320 with Montenegro Airlines tail?? Did they forget they changed the livery?
ReplyDeleteIt's a sticker on a wet leased plane; for 6months it doesn't make sense to pay big money for full plane livery.
DeleteNo, it's the logo of Air Montenegro which is ALMOST the same as the one of defunct Montenegro Airlines.
DeleteFly with them in October '23. Decent service, and Podgorica airport it's small so they are always on time.
ReplyDeletePodgorica Airport is an absolute disgrace. Infrastructure wise and service wise.
DeleteAir Montenegro isn't always on time. One small problem with one of their planes and all their flights are delayed for days. Happened recently.
The two planes they wet leased last summer (A320/E195) were complete garbage and had technical issues all the time. Hopefully the new leases including Trade Air's A320 will be better.
ReplyDeleteThe only wetlease this year will be the A320 from Trade Air. The E195s will be dry leases.
DeleteDear Anonymous, as one of the pilots of the " absolute garbage " of Airbus A320, thank you for your very constructive comment. We had exactly the same amount of technical problems than Air Montenegro, which is a good performance knowing that the number of hour flown by this aircraft is far higher than any other one of Air Montenegro this season. We have done the job, a few flights that we should have operated have been taken by Air Montenegro, and vice versa. Not bad for an aircraft from 2003 !
DeleteAre they going to keep flying to Banja Luka or will they discontinue this route?
ReplyDeleteNo, it is discontinued
Delete:(
DeleteNo flights to Sarajevo either this year, although they were charters I believe
Delete22:30 Sesonal charter flights to Sarajevo were from Tirana, while flights from TGD to SJJ were seasonal.
DeleteYes you are right, my mistake
DeleteWish them the best of luck. We need ex-Yu flag carriers.
ReplyDeleteLet's see who will be the first to give up on TGD-IST route.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear they are doing well on the Rome route. I'm surprised ITA never came back to TGD and BEG after covid.
ReplyDeleteITA's network is a shadow of Alitalia's but they are growing. They will be back in the future.
Delete@Anon 13:32 Doubt it for TGD tbh. A major issue for them is that they never got a replacement for Alitalia's E75s which usually flew to TGD. The smallest plane they have now is the A221 which is likely too big for TGD.
DeleteSimilar situation for BEG. They used an A319 on the route, but with capacity on the route basically doubling due to Wizz and JU, its no wonder they didnt come back in 2022. as was originally planned, and then as well in 2023. Maybe when they get some extra A220 capacity this year, we might see them in BEG at the earliest at the start of WS24/25
Yes, that makes sense. We will see what happens.
DeleteSo now it's left to see if OU will be profitable or not.
ReplyDeleteHow do you manage to talk about OU in relation to an article about a MNE carrier?? What is the connection?
DeleteBecause we now know the profit for 4O and JU.
Deletethe profit for 4O is spiced up thanks to the state
Delete10 27,and that is important because??
DeleteBecause this is an aviation site that covers the region. If it bothers you so much don't read it.
DeleteOU will be profitable (just) because they sold five planes and are including it in their net profit.
DeleteWas YM ever profitable?
ReplyDeleteThey falsified their financial reports on several occasions only to be found out by an independent auditor years later.
DeleteAnd our politicians in Slovenia still can't establish an airline...
ReplyDeleteWhat do you expect from the same people that helped destroy it?
DeleteWill they come back to Tel Aviv considering the situation?
ReplyDelete4O did in 3 years what OU has been trying to do for 30 years...
