NEWS FLASH
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled 7.946.714 passengers in 2023, representing an increase of 41.6% on the year before and an improvement of 29% on its previous best result achieved in 2019. The airport added an additional 2.337.838 passengers compared to 2022 and an extra 1.786.043 travellers on 2019. Air Serbia was the airport's biggest airline based on scheduled seat capacity, followed by Wizz Air and Lufthansa.
Wow, great achivement :))
ReplyDeleteWow! Almost 8M passengers! Well done Belgrade!!!
ReplyDeleteCan we get report like this one for INI and KVO?
It was so close to 8!! Could we hope for 9m this year or is it to much ?
ReplyDeleteToo much. Around 8.5 probably
DeleteThats under 10% growth? I expect double sigit growth at least
DeleteIt would be but JU and W6 cut many frequencies in winter. Very few additions for this year. Growth will be up to 10% in summer.
DeleteBut isnt the capacity still much larger compared to same period last year despite the recent cuts? Or thats what i read in the comments here but i might be wrong.
DeleteYes JU is up by 30% so 15% at the airport level. They don't fly full so they will add extra 5-6%.
DeleteYeah youre right. Thanks for the answers :) i still hope it will be better than expected
DeleteMe too so let's hope Q2 goes crazy. That's also when LH goes to six daily!
Delete9 million is very doable and probably will be easily achieved.
DeleteWhat about December?
ReplyDeleteWell up to January - November period, Belgrade Airport welcomed 7.307.182 so do the math :)
Delete641.020
DeleteAlthough I am curious to know how it compares with the "selected" airports in the region.
2.3 times bigger than the second busiest airport in December.
DeleteBravo BEG 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteBravo Anon!
DeleteWow!! Only 50K short of 8M!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!! CONGRATS BEG!!!
Crazy how strong Luftwaffe is. I expected TK to be higher with so many daily flights.
ReplyDeleteWhat's AJet?
ReplyDeleteFormerly known as Anadolujet,
DeleteCongrats to Belgrade. As it is becoming a transfer airport, it would be nice to have the split between O&D pax, and transfer pax.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Lufthansa group has a capacity of almost 1 million seats (992.311), that's quite big, and shows the importance of BEG as a market. They plan to add frequencies next year from FRA and MUC, so it will be interesting to see how they fare.
Honestly happy to see LH itself a bit down. Especially on long distance flights, their service has become insufferable -- they keep winning the race to the bottom.
DeleteSo December 2022 was weaker than same month 2019, whereas in November the situation was the opposite?
ReplyDeleteI expected that full recovery was achieved in Q4 and that every month was record one.
December 2019 - 422.561
DeleteDecember 2022 - 476.128
December 2023 - 641.020
My bad, 41% and 29% variances are YTD, not MTD as I mistakenly concluded.
DeleteSpectacular growth. Not just growing, but growing much faster than the Ex Yu regional competitor. Gap in passengers also increased over years:
ReplyDeletehttps://i.postimg.cc/NMwKYbt2/Beg-Zag2023.png
So, LF of Air Serbia was 82,5%, if I am not wrong. Impressive
ReplyDeleteCorrect. Impressive
DeleteAir Serbia also flies from Nis and Kraljevo.
DeleteWhat if they introduce a new terminal at BEG ? :)
ReplyDeleteI think 3 more terminals are needed too.
DeleteGreat result! So close to 8 million. Congrats BEG!
ReplyDelete2024
ReplyDelete9 000 000+ via BEG, INI, KVO. 100%.
The lower LH numbers are a result of the direct flights to ORD and reduced need to use it as a transfer airport. This will increase even further when YYZ/YWG or YUL flights start.
ReplyDeleteNope. They didn't bring the third daily from MUC that's why. Extra flights from FRA started quite late.
DeleteGuys these are capacity numbers in the table (number of seats offered) not number of passengers flown but it can give you a good idea of how many passengers they have.
DeleteWinnipeg?!?!
Deleteyou really think JU gonna fly there?
Where is that place Winipeg?
Delete09:11 Manitoba, in the center of Canada.
DeleteHopefully JU will increase frequencies to SVO and return to MSQ. It will have a double effect, as most of those passengers will fly to TIV throughout the year, which is another return leg of full flights. Yeah, I know the EU is thumbing its nose to these two places, but flights can be re-introduced discretely. Given that there is no competition in Europe, this would be a lucrative venture.
ReplyDeleteJU never flew to MSQ.
DeleteTurkey has flights from Belarus and they are a NATO member. Turkey is RAKING in the profits these last 2 years.
DeleteTurkish airlines does not fly to Belarus. Some subsidiary from Turkey flies there. But given that it only opened 2 years ago and has 14 large airplanes they must be doing something right.
DeleteIt was opened for Russians
DeleteIf BEG doesn't have room, is BJY an option in the future?
ReplyDeleteFor Airpink
DeleteAnd "Nasa krila"
DeleteSo 5th in the Balkan region , not bad at all .
ReplyDeleteCan you list the others? 1 ATH, 2 OTP, 3 HER , 4?
Delete1. IST
Delete2. ATH
3. OTP
4. HER
5. BEG
Though neither OTP or HER are on the Balkan peninsula. Bucharest is north of Danube while Heraklion is on Crete, an island. Difference between BEG and HER is some 800.000 passengers.
From this info and another one. Load factor for Air Serbia. 4,19M and capacity 5,08M result is more than 82%. BRAVO!
ReplyDelete4,19M includes INI and KVO while 5,08M is just BEG. And it is not sure if charters are included in 5,08M.
Delete^ it's not included. It clearly states that it is scheduled capacity, meaning capacity on scheduled routes.
Delete@admin, does the number of 5,08M capacity of Air Serbia includes summer charter flights or not?
ReplyDeleteAs indicated in the article, it only includes capacity on scheduled flights. It does not include charters which are not put on general sale
DeleteThanks. Do you know what was the capacity of charter flights?
DeleteGreat year for Air Serbia and Wizz and good to see others have seen number going up. Over the past few years the Belgrade market has developed so much and that's amazing, but what would be the ceiling for such fast growth? 9 or 10 mil maybe? Surely at some point maintaining double digit growth becomes increasingly difficult and comes time for consolidation with lower but steady growth?
