NEWS FLASH
Ljubljana Airport handled 1.270.382 passengers in 2023, representing an increase of 30.9% on the year before, although the figure is still down 26.2% on the pre-pandemic 2019. Aircraft movements stood at 22.749, up 5.5% on 2022. Overall, Ljubljana Airport added 300.230 passengers on the year before but its figures contracted by 450.973 travellers on 2019. Turkish Airlines was the largest carrier by available scheduled capacity, followed by Lufthansa and Swiss.
Ljubljana Airport's largest airlines in 2023 by scheduled seat capacity
Happy with the result :D
ReplyDeleteThe death of LCCs in Ljubljana...
ReplyDeleteThankfully we're getting Norwegian and AirBaltic this year as well as potentially even more flights, depending on the tender results
DeleteIn fact WizzAir became in the top 10 thanks to the launch of SKP flights, so things are improving now.
DeleteWhat Slovenia did to easyJet is a disgrace. easyJet was perfect for Ljubljana, and it could have launched loads of routes and based some aircraft there.
ReplyDeleteExactly right - and airline pushed local officials strongly to work together
DeleteThe result is actually not so good, as the "pre-pandemic" comparison is done to 2019, while we know that Adria collapsed in September already. The real comparison is to 2018 and that means only 70% recovery. That is by far the worst result in the group of comparable airports. In fact, European airports under 5 mio passengers already fully recovered.
ReplyDeleteCome on
DeleteHe's right, comparison should be made to 2018
DeleteHappy for it, compared to 2018, that's it, it' quite good, no big improvements can be expected unless a LCC puts a base in Ljubljana.
DeleteOr national carrier is established. This is actually more realistic
DeleteThis story would be hella different if Adria managed to kick around until March 2020
ReplyDeletehow so?
DeleteUnlimited gov financing covid was a great time for that
DeleteDiscontinued Luton and Berlin, unfortunately. Airport fees are too large for them
ReplyDeleteOh what a coincidence that Brussels, Lufthansa, and Swiss have benefited the most...
ReplyDeleteand what did you expect??? Adria was a feeder to LH of course they jumped on it
DeleteIt is not a coincidence but it is certainly not the conspiracy theory you are making it out to be.
DeleteIt is interesting to see how any attempt of saying the truth of LHG and similar brands from Germany destroying aviation in Croatia and Slovenia are immediately labeled conspiracy theory despite being sad facts and miserable reality
Delete@PiR destroying aviation in Slovenia????? e sad si prolupao skroz haha
Delete@15:21 +100 not surprising at all. They have been doing it all over Europe for decades. When it is done in the Ex-Yu it is labelled as criminal but if it is the big 3 of the EU it is just business.
DeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteThey should definitely upgrade Gatwick and bring back Berlin.
ReplyDeleteWizzair will move way up
ReplyDeletewhy?
DeleteCause of the launch of SKP flights, they started just three months before the end of the year and w6 is in the top 10 already.
Deleteyes they added 3 flights per week. more or less all above wizz also added flights
DeleteThey also discontinued Southend and Stansted.
ReplyDeleteThey never flew SEN.
ReplyDeleteThey should really think of a model for LCC, they are underperforming. Give them bad slots, worse service, limited access to facilities, but a discount. This should be their priority number 1.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately anything that doesn't feed LH bases is not in the interest of Fraport
Delete1,5 or more in 2024?
ReplyDelete1.6 if Norwegian is all around, and airlines keep the schedule. The only worry is CDG being lowered in frequencies compared to last summer
DeleteSo 1.5 100%? That's good, remember where we were two or three years ago...
Delete1,5 million is 87% compared to 2019 and 82% to 2018.
DeleteThat's right! I had in mind that we 100% would reach 1.5 in 2024.
DeleteDon't think they ever flew to Southend, that was Adria
Deleteok, mozemo napravit brzu kalkulaciju.
swiss on the other hand will have cca 180.000 seats on the route. if they have LF 80% - 144.000 pax. So no, swiss will have more pax than airserbia but they might stay as close as this year.
It's interesting how what one believes is now perceived with the same value as figures and facts. The third flight is not even in the system, so we actually don’t know the number of flights performed by JU. On the other hand, LX has flights with aircraft in the system (despite changes of aircraft being highly possible).
