SunExpress boosts Pristina and Skopje flights

NEWS FLASH

Turkish carrier SunExpress will increase frequencies on its flights from Antalya to both Pristina and Skopje this coming summer. The airline will maintain ten weekly rotations from the coastal city to Pristina, up from seven weekly, with two flights per day on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It will also boost flights to Skopje from four weekly to daily. The increase in frequencies will be in effect from mid-June until mid-September. The airline competes against Pegasus Airlines on both routes, with the budget carrier maintaining three weekly rotations to Pristina and five weekly to Skopje. As previously reported, SunExpress will inaugurate new flights between Izmir and Pristina on June 3

Skopje will have so much flights to Antalya this summer. Freebird Airlines will also operate charters on this route every day except on Tuesdays. Pegasus will operate four times per week as well. Southwind and Tailwind Airlines willl operate charters. But does anybody know when and if TK will put tickets on sale for their summer flights to AYT by Anadolujet this summer?

Will BH Air continue charters to Tunisia and Egypt? Or have tour operators chosen new airlines?

@11:00 Yes, i checked now. They will operate one weekly flight to Enfidha and Djerba on Tuesdays as of June 25th until September 3rd and one weekly flight to Hurghada on Wednesdays as of May 22nd until September 11th. Nouvle Air will operate to Monastir on Mondays and Thursdays and AMC Airlines ( with their very old broken 737 ) will operate twice a week to Hurghada.

Antalya had a market share of 3.2% last year at SKP, thats some 92.000 passengers

Looks like both airports are set for a record year of at least 20% growth.

    SKP 3.5mln passengers
    PRN 4 mln passengers

Why not? In 2023 SKP managed to grow&restore some 700k Pax, despite the engine issues.
An extra 600k this year seems realistic to me.

It is. Last year we got routes such as Split, Oslo, Frankfurt 10x and SunExpress from Izmir if i am not mistaken. Wizz also increased the operations and overall the LF where better then ever. I am very happy that now we will have more flights to CPH instead of MMX, even though CPH is also for the diaspora mostly. Four weekly flights to MLA and three weekly to MXP, BLQ and BVA are also good. This year we will get Riga and Salzburg. I am waiting for the travel agencies to put all of their offers for sale, so far no flights to LCA and Enfidha, but there will be one weekly flight to Djerba like last year and twice a week to Monastir, Tunis air will also operate once a week from Tunis with A320neo. I can imagine the numbers of pax if we still had Moscow, st.Petersburg, Barcelona, Larnaca, Turin, Hannover, Billund, Turku, Vaxjo, Doha and Dubai flights…

@14.39 they change it constantly. Bologna is back to 2 but Nürnberg is 3 at again and so on. also MMX > CPH

Skopje - Ankara isn’t a very needed route, they should focus on connecting Skopje with major airports, such as Paris CDG, London Heathrow, Brussels…

so lets have no new routes until the "very needed" ones 🤦

I personally prefer Prague, Barcelona, Nice, Larnaca, Naples, Bari, Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv and Amsterdam over your major airports that you are braging all the time for years. We have VIE, FRA, ZRH, WAW, BEG, IST, ATH, MXP and that is enough for connections.

The thing with SKP is that is a more gasto airport and the market is covered. MK is a super small country and market also with a growing Albanian diaspora similar to PRN, the Australian diaspora is probably now using TK, especially with the new Melbourne route.
Wizzair obviously is the total monopoly in SKP with a staggerinng more than 60%. Most gasto routes are filled. There is an oversaturation of the German market. SKP itself is not a top tourist destination compared to Ohrid. But then Ohrid figures are quite weak.
In PRN, we see a strong presence of airlines but it is a very gasto airport similar to SKP. Trade Air for example were not stupid to be quite present there. There is simply a huge demand to Switzerland and Germany. Like in nature, the bigger one eats the smaller.

Considering SKP, this is rather a stereotype, cliché comment than a real analysis of the routes by type of passengers, frequency needs etc.

@20:06 I agree. You cant compare SKP with PRN in the first place. We have just one daily flight and on certain days two daily flights to Zurich. Germany is pretty much covered but not all routes are onlu gastros, there are tour operators offering Berlin and Cologne for holidays. I would personally fly to HAM because i want to visit the city. Yes mostly its diaspora but at least most routes are resonable and easy bookable via wizz website, which is not the case for PRN where unknown carriers are operating unknown flights. MXP, BLQ, VCE, FCO/CIA, MLA, BVA, LTN, CGN, HAM, BER, HHN, CPH, MMX, TRF, LJU, BTS, SZG, NYO and GOT are also leisure routes not just gastro. Also, the share market of Wizz is okay as at the end of the day they are the ones who hire our people and operate for us so its normal that they dominate just like a national carrier would have done so. We dont need flights to LHR as UK is not part of the EU anymore and therefor transfering through LHR is complicated for us. In fact thats why LTN is reduced to three times per week now and it used to be operate five in the past. Also from what i have heard so far from many people, VIE and FRA are the best airports for transfer passengers, easy to get around.

All of those routes are full of Macedonians leisuring in Europe. Definitely not gasto at all 😂😂😂

I didnt say that they are not gasto but that they arent just gastro, learn to make the difference.

@16:50 I am not saying that I can “manage” the airport, I am just saying my own opinion. For me as a regular traveler, connections to the major airports of cities, which are located close to the city are needed more, rather than Ankara? I have never seen Ankara on the busiest unserved route from Skopje, but I do see Madrid, Barcelona, Prague etc.

Well if you have not seen it I have it, on this very blog. Ankara was number 9 in 2019 with nearly 10k. And none of your 3 destinations
