Turkish Airlines has further reduced its planned operations between Istanbul and Pristina for the coming summer season. The carrier, which last year maintained two daily flights between the two cities, initially reduced services to twelve weekly. In its latest revision of the summer network, operations will now be cut to ten weekly from May 13 until the end of the summer season in late October. During April and up to May 13, the service will continue to run twelve times per week.

ReplyDeleteTurkish lived off transfers. Liberalisation of visa and traffic laws with Kosovo means they have more direct flights to unserved destinations and thus less need for Turkish
DeleteTK has ordered its NEOs with Pratt engines. A lot of them will have to be grounded for months for the necessary service. Plus Boeing has reduced deliveries of its MAX series.

Turkey was for long one of the few destinations, KS citizens could visit visa free. Now that they can visit EU without visa, I believe the interest shifted. On top, not sure if some additional flights were added so connectivity to Western Europe improved and a lot of transfer pax went west.

DeleteIt happened 15 years ago in other Balkan countries, not that there were many flights to Istanbul back then from the region.

I believe it has to be the fact that during high season PRN has enough charter flights towards Turkey

ReplyDeleteBoth. Transfer to JFK is most common. Around 20k passengers annually.
