NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia has delayed the resumption of its seasonal service between Belgrade and Ohrid, which was launched last year. The four weekly flights, which were initially to restart on June 3, will now commence on July 3 instead. Frequencies on the route remain unchanged. All flights are scheduled to be operated by the ATR72-600 aircraft, with the service running until October 26.

ReplyDeleteKrajnje neozbiljno. 20 dana pred pocetak letova otkazu 16 letova i to za destinaciju gde je prakticno vrlo tesko alternativu odraditi i prebaciti putnike na druge letove ili preko nekog drugog grada.

DeleteBoth from Tirana and Skopje airport it is about 3 hours. Probably JU will offer a bus from SKP as alternative.
Delete@ Anon 12:41, the Galeb Ohrid bus usually leaves Belgrade around 9:30pm and arrives in Ohrid the next day around 11:30am, so - all in all 14 hours

DeleteThe bus from Belgrade to Ohrid is 12 hrs, with stops in Jagodina, Nis, Leskovac, Kumanovo etc., maybe 2-3 hrs less non stop and if you are lucky with Presevo/Tabanovce.
DeleteNot serious at all with less than 2 months schedule, having in mind that luggage from intercontinental flights arrived when the people were getting back. (the ATR small luggage compartment problem).
And the 'new' highway from SKP to OHD started 10 yrs ag

Because there are a lot of Albanians In those areas up to 50,000 or even more 60,000 65,000 they can use this flight to go to USA from ohrid

ReplyDeleteYield. As if it only matters if you have a plane. And it doesn't matter if you fly half-empty or if you don't make a profit. JU definitely has a reason why the start of the flight was moved.
DeleteJer je problem sa vremena tih leta onda. ako oni postave let između BEG i OHD kad ne odgovara da se povezu sa drugi let do evrope mozda zato ne prave dovoljno od putnike sto imaju

DeleteThey new few months earlier that don't have enough pilots. So why did they put those flights in the system and wait till the last moment to cancel?

DeleteMany pilots left since last year as foreign carriers are offering unreasonably high salaries (Gulf carriers, wet lease companies etc.). JU increased their salaries but it was obviously not enough to keep them in the airline. My guess is that overall working conditions are better elsewhere. Apparently this year JU will have enough planes but not enough pilots. That is why Marek could 'afford' to keep two A319s parked during each wave. Btw JU has 2 spare planes while TK, from what I was told, has 4 or 5 despite being 100 times bigger than JU.

DeleteMy thoughts exactly. Unreasonable is when you make below industry standard wages and work a lot more, while not being able to take mandatory vacation (time off) , for the past 10+ months. That is unreasonable.
All this shows that planning was and always is their main virtue! Maybe Mr. Marek learns something out of that IATA conference in Dubai and implements it within the planning department.

DeleteEven though cancellations like this are not unheard of in the entire world, I find it rather disappointing that JU is canceling these flights 3 weeks before they are supposed to be launched, with literally no alternative for passengers who probably booked their hotels. I imagine those passengers are angry.

DeletePeople are soo dramatic in EX JU. In USA and Canada rgey cxl or delay route a week before and nobody crys as much . Not a big deal . They will offer them Skopje and done deal
DeleteI agree: people in ex-Yu are tragically overdramatic. I’m so over it and could easily do without.
DeleteOhrid airport performance is worrisome. This shows that TAV is not doing their job correctly. Read many articles that there is a lack of staff in the hotels in Ohrid. Wizzair seem to have abdicated from the airport and even if JU does not have enough ATRs, it seems that there is no demand. Serbs started travelling more to Spain and now Tunis it seems and not Ohrid that much.
ReplyDeleteSerbs were always travelling to Spain and Tunisia and elsewhere, and yet, also to Ohrid.
DeleteAnd this route is not only for Serb tourists but for transfers via BGD, W6 has not abdicated from the airport and last but not least the demand is there- in a constellation of lack of pilots with some or engine repairs with others, smaller airports will be the first ones to get cancellations.
At least these flights have not been fully cancelled as some informed.
