Croatia Airlines plans to unveil its new visual identity and livery on Tuesday June 18. The new branding will be introduced with the arrival of its first Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which is currently in the paint shop. The carrier has remained tight-lipped on its new look, but an emphasis will be put on revamping the company’s logo as part of its new visual identity. The carrier’s initial logo was chosen in an international competition in 1993 and was designed by Vilim Vasata who in 1995 developed the current brand identity, while Ivana Ivanković, who serves as the company's Head of Corporate Design, was responsible for the airline’s existing livery, which was adopted in 2004.
Croatia Airlines refreshed its look by slightly tweaking its livery in 2019. As part of the new design, the letters "Croatia" on the fuselage were made larger, making them more noticeable and recognisable. The Croatian checkerboard symbol, featured on the tail, was further extended down the body of the aircraft, while the blue underbelly became white. However, to this day, the airline’s entire fleet has not been painted in the new livery. The new visual identity will only be featured on the carrier’s incoming fleet of fifteen A220 jets, as the company will become a single-type operator. Aircraft currently utilised by the airline will be returned to their owners.
In 2021, Belgium’s national carrier Brussels Airlines revealed a new livery which bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Croatia Airlines. Commenting on its existing branding, Croatia Airlines said, “The design of our visual identity is recognisable both in Croatia and abroad and we are proud if it served as inspiration to other carriers with their own designs. It should be noted that in 2005 the company was the recipient of the international ReBrandTM award for our livery as judged by some of the world’s most respected experts in the field of design. In addition, in 2019 and 2020, the Croatia Airlines fleet was visually refreshed. The squares, as a recognisable symbol of Croatian national identity, were applied along the tail and the back of the fuselage while the size of the letters “CROATIA” were increased”.
Hmm meanwhile they delayed the resumptiong of TIA by a week as well as the reduction on some other destinations. Seems like things are going from bad to worse in Buzin. Those A220s can't come soon enough guys.
ReplyDeleteOuch
DeleteHola senor Ouch
DeleteSelo gori, baba se češlja
DeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteSo the delivery of a220 won't be before 18.7?
ReplyDeleteThey will put it in service mid august then?
I think they will just have a former press presentation then. It is probably just before it goes into service.
DeleteIf plane is to be put in service directly from the paintshop, fine, but if they are to reveal the livery, it cannot be just before the plane goes to it's first service. Otherwise, it will already be "received" on the internet much before.
DeleteCan't wait to see it
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn’t get pushed back again. :D
DeleteJust a few days to go
DeleteI'm sure some photos will come before the official unveiling.
ReplyDeleteFor sure. They won't be able to hide it until then.
DeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteDoes an airline the size of Croatia Airlines really need a Head of Corporate Design?
ReplyDeleteExcellent point actually.
DeleteAt least she is doing her job very well. They need other people to be more like her.
DeleteNo. They could hire a design company instead. But it would seem at least that the design department thr only one's doing a decent job and doing what they are supposed to.
DeleteHer parents used to work for JAT and OU later on so....
DeleteAt least for her work/department at OU there's nothing to complain about. The design is well received and recognisable to everyone.
DeleteClown show
DeleteIf she is a Head ... There have to be other minions
DeleteCan someone explain to me why for years the Croatian Airlines website has photos of these two ladies as cabin crew in a uniform that is not the OU uniform?

Haha this makes no sense
DeleteThose uniforms actually look nice and I prefer it to the current prison warden uniform. Hope they change it.
DeleteI wrote about this a few weeks ago. Basically they did a photo shoot several years ago for some new routes they introduced with these two models. Back then they said how one day they hope to change the uniform to this. Of course it makes no sense that they are using it for their marketing for years (or ever since it is not their uniform).
DeleteI agree that they should change the uniform. Dark blue makes much more sense than black.
DeleteA few years ago they presented new uniforms at an event. I wonder for what?
DeleteMaybe it looked too much like the colors of JAT’s old 1980s uniforms.
DeleteThey don't have money for new uniforms. The leases for these planes are being paid through loans and undercover government support.
DeleteI think current uniforms are just fine, they look ok to me, looked at noumber of other EU airlines and they are all pretty much similar in design and look. No need to change stuff that works just fine.
DeleteI think it will be a minimal change to the current livery.
ReplyDeleteWho cares? What will it change?
Delete2354,zhe people whose lived spin around liveries. Same like you, except of the fact that your life is about venom.
DeleteI like the livery as it is now. Would keep it. This is my opinion, opinion of smww from other country-Montenegro. Hope the change will be to the better and hope it will not be drastic change.
ReplyDeleteevery time I see Brussels airline, I always think at first glance that it is Croatia Airlines
DeleteIt is a complete rip off
DeleteThe best is yet to come :D
ReplyDeleteIt's logo is the most recognizable. Why fix something that isn't broken?
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteI like their current livery and the refresh they did a few years ago
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteCan't wait to see cabin interior on the new Croatia Airlines A220s
ReplyDeleteNice. 😃
ReplyDeleteI’ll take a wild guess: since the Chief of corporate design aka DesignUhljeb did close to nothing in her whole career with Croatia, I think new “design” will be just giant red-white kockica. Condor kind of style.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't be a bad thing at all. Condor's livery is very recognisable across Germany due to its uniqueness, and having your airline recognisable from far away is never a bad thing
DeleteNot Lufthansa you are pozdrav iz Rijeka with a disguised account! I wondered where you were hiding all this time!
DeleteZar nije predstavljanje novog bojanja prekosutra 18.6. ?
ReplyDeleteThey should show new Logo after the next win game in Euros24
ReplyDeleteWho they playing next game?
Take the wave from that win and splash across media field the very next day.
In the terms of design there is a lack of creativity around the world. Everybody plays safe and when you play safe the result is uninspiring.
Well I think it's smart. The plane is probably coming out of painting on Tuesday so it will be impossible to hide it.
ReplyDeleteOr even Monday
DeleteLooking forward to seeing it.
