NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Serbian start-up SignAvatar are trialling the translation of passenger announcements in sign language for the hearing impaired. The AI-powered tool turns speech and text into sign language automatically. During the trial run, five screens with the sign language announcements have been rolled out across the terminal, with plans to expand the solution across the entire airport complex. The TransportSign solution by SignAvatar was recently adopted at Belgrade’s central railway station as well.

Does Belgrade Airport offer SMS, email or smartphone app notifications for schedule and gate changes for all departing flights? That would be effective way to communicatr announcements to all passengers who subscribe to the service. It is already offered by other airports.

Great news. It would be fantastic if Serbia introduces the “sunflower sign” that is worn in more and more countries. It shows you have some invisible impairment such as Celiac disease, autism, diabetes, visual impairments, and so on. This is implemented in all public institutions, airports, railway stations, supermarkets…wherever you need to queue.

I hope it is both SSL and ASL at least. If it is only SSL makes not too much sence
