NEWS FLASH
Iberia inaugurated its new seasonal service between Madrid and Ljubljana yesterday. The two weekly rotations, on Mondays and Thursdays, will be maintained by the 100-seat CRJ1000 aircraft for just over a month, concluding on September 5. The new route is subsidised under the Slovenian government’s air connectivity scheme. Iberia had previously shortly served the Slovenian capital during the summer of 2021. The Spanish flag carrier becomes the third new airline to commence operations to Ljubljana Airport so far this year following airBaltic and Norwegian Air Shuttle.
Commenting on the new route launch, the CEO of airport operator Fraport Slovenija, Babett Stapel, said, “We are happy to welcome Iberia and the new service to Madrid at Ljubljana Airport, by which we have significantly strengthened our network and expanded connectivity. Madrid, as a new destination, offers the opportunity to visit the attractive Spanish capital, as well as Madrid Airport, with its strong network of flights, making it an excellent starting point especially for trips to Latin America. The connection is certainly interesting for Spanish guests, who can now visit Slovenia with a nonstop flight and get to know its beauties".
Bravo Fraport! So proud!
ReplyDeleteThe fares are really expensive so flights must be full. Hopefully we get a “real” Madrid connection next year.
ReplyDeleteEven pro-party medias couldn't go pass the fact that there will be only 14 rotations, you know it's bad when RTV and POP both are bashing it
ReplyDeleteI agree. This is a joke. What's the point of such route that lasts not even 2 months??? They should not have been given any subsidies, period. The demand for this route is there. I think the problem is that many airlines lack the metal to serve destinations like LJU and many others. Until the supply chain is fixed, many destinations will be left unserved.
DeleteLove it! New era begins
ReplyDeleteBetter less for €€€€, than a lot of work for low costers - no money 💪💪
ReplyDeleteIf MAD was a cash cow FR or U2 would be flying there. When will the fanboys realise LJU has a network that perfectly fits the local needs.
ReplyDeleteMAD can work out only if served by IB so they catch direct and indirect market. 2x/week with CRJ1000 throughout the year.
DeletePrices on this route for these 6 weeks are crazy (2x of the fares VCE- MAD and 1x of the fares ZAG-MAD on the same days).
There is absolutely zero need or demand for MAD. What LJU really needs is FRA.
