TRIP REPORT: airBaltic, Riga - Belgrade

TRIP REPORT

Greetings! This year, airBaltic changed the schedules for most of its Balkan flights to night/early morning, however, last year this was not the case. Here is my flight onboard BT487 operating from Riga (RIX) - (BEG) Belgrade in the daytime.

The aircraft I flew on was YL-AAV, a 3.6-year-old (at time of filming) Airbus A220-300. As airBaltic only operates Airbus A220s this was the only possible outcome (except maybe some wet-leased Carpatair jet.) Below is my full trip report of this flight from check-in to stepping out onto the soil of the sunny Serbian capital Belgrade. As eell as some other resources pertaining to this flight:

[FLIGHT INFO]

Type: Airbus A220-300
Registration: YL-AAV
Operator: airBaltic
Route: Riga (RIX) – Belgrade (BEG)
Aircraft age: 3.6 Years (now 4.6 Years)
Flight number: BT487 (callsign: BTI7GX)

Thanks very much for viewing my trip report! I appreciate all your kind comments of support on the last one I did about this route last year (Belgrade - Riga). Thanks again!

I have to say that this was a very nice trip report, thank you! I love the walk on top of the terminal once you get off the plane. Such a cool place to look at planes.

Btw just a small tip for the future. It would be nice if you don't speed up the video when the crew makes an announcement. It's nice to hear foreign languages as they sound especially some exotic ones like Latvian.

the presentation of the food is a lie. in reality it is not presented like that. I ordered teriyaki salmon with dessert in April. the reality was different.

BT economy still has awesome food. Something that is non-existent on most European flights.

BT economy doesn't have free food, they have a buy on board like most airlines do nowadays.

That’s true. There is a boB service. the food offers are getting cheaper and cheaper. You get emails with the choice of food to pre-order. If you don't respond, the food gets a little cheaper until I finally ordered dinner shortly before the flight and it was 2 euros cheaper

Which means people are not buying it. AF-KL was right not to terminate their inflight service on short flights. At some point cutting costs will backfire.

At one point in the video he takes a picture of the cabin and says the flight was full. I think they shouldn't have changed their flight times. Seems like these night ones are not doing that well.

I flew about 10 days ago, the flight to Riga was about 90% full, the return flight was almost 100% with a few free seats. Most of the passengers are Estonians. Really nice load.
