Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport is still recovering after sustaining significant damage from a summer storm in June. The airport's roof, which was heavily impacted, is currently under reconstruction, with completion expected next month. However, a more comprehensive restoration of the airport is anticipated to extend until next summer. According to the Slovenian Ministry for Infrastructure, the airport's ability to handle passengers remains limited due to the ongoing repairs. Despite these limitations, the impact on operations is minimal, as Maribor Airport currently manages a low volume of passengers. In July, the airport handled just 209 travellers. Other activities, including sports and recreational flights, pilot training, and helicopter emergency services remain unaffected.

DeleteLooks like that TUI realized that it is hard to make deals with Ministry of Infrastructure that probably provided tem with answers on their questions within 2 months instead of 2 days.

DeleteStart with fright flights to MBX ... open a company to service aircrafts and as this airport is stateowned open Slovenia Air in MBX as home base (cheaper service, taxes, parking) as in LJU.

ReplyDeleteNK Maribor fly out of Graz, which is utterly ridiculous. Slovenia continue to look the other way when it comes to aviation.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how many people start to explain how nothing is worth to develop it as it is recovering over decades... a pity! If the people in the region dont want development and success go and rebuilt it all infrastructures and start to produce onions and potatoes....
