NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia will increase frequencies between Belgrade and Tirana during the 2024/25 winter season, which begins on October 27. The carrier plans to maintain twelve weekly flights between the two capitals throughout the winter season. This represents an additional five weekly rotations in November, one weekly in December, and four additional weekly flights from January to March. Air Serbia handled 24.278 passengers on the route during the first half of the year. The carrier previously said the overwhelming majority of travellers on the route are transfers.
Demand to travel to Albania is just crazy!
ReplyDeleteWell it's cooling off. This winter Ryanair is cutting EDI, BHX and is reducing BVA. Wizz on the other hand is terminating CGN flights.
DeleteCompared to the crazy growth they had in the past this is really not a big deal.
DeleteRyanair is launching, Lamezia Terme and Napples. BHX and EDI are seasonal.
DeleteWizz is starting Leipzig, Salerno and Stutgart.
EasyJet also starts NAP and Sky Express starts ATH.
They are doing more than fine. 56% up through August!
Albania does not stop.
DeleteWizzair is terminating CGN not only from Tirana but from all other serving bases.
DeleteOn the other hand they are starting STR, LEJ and QSN, as opposed to elsewhere in the region where they are cutting routes.
Wizz air are terminating all their cologne flights …
DeleteBHX-TIA is gone for good. With so many routes being reduced this winter by FR it's obvious that demand is not there once summer is gone.

Where besides SJJ and TZL has Wizz cut routes in the region? Please be more specific.
They cut many frequencies in SKP and BEG too.
DeleteHe said routes not frequencies
Deleteofcourse not charging airlines to fly into an airport and they can give passengers cheap tickets to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteIt's a winning strategy!
Deletenot for taxpayer that needs to cover the cost because the airport and services that dont make a profit.
DeleteThe state receives so much more money from all the money visitors spent!
DeleteIt is not possible to keep unsustainable business for long. With tickets 10-20 Euro and no taxes, it’s not good for any side.
DeleteIts good for Albanian tourism revenues!
DeleteTaxpayers don't pay anything to Tirana airport, it's operated by concessionaire same as BEG or ZAG or SKP...
DeleteYupp, and it`s a local company.
DeleteTIA is owned by the Chinese
DeleteLol, sure
DeleteThe operators at BEG and ZAG are French. So they're both foreign. Their operations make them a profit and grow. TIA operator is local and local to the government
DeleteTIA was previously owned by the chinese and thank god they are out. Not a single tax subsidy is given from the government to the airport. Its just a local company, showing that things can be done different even if you dont give it to the big names in Europe.
DeleteCool photo 👌
ReplyDeleteAs an Albanian. Like to hear this. But rumors are that Albanians fly to Belgrade since that airport gives you more destinations where to fly to .
ReplyDeleteJU can be very competitive in Tirana because they send the ATR with low costs.
DeleteIndeed. Belgrade offers transfers to New York, which is TIA's busiest unserved destination.
DeleteDo you think there's P2P demand? I had great time in Tirana, think more can be done to promote each one to other, the safety of travel at first place since there are many prejudice...
DeleteI can only recommend Albania. Great landscape and still affordable. Very warm people
DeleteThis means that next summer TIA can be operated more than 14x weekly, or with higher capacity
ReplyDeleteonly if TIA doesn't commence flights to overseas next year...
DeleteTIA will definitely commence overseas flights next summer. There's nothing concrete but they've lengthen the runaway from 2750m to 3200 as it's needed for transatlantic flights / long haul flights. They will also open The Vlora International Airport which I guess they will also commence transatlantic flights from there too, since that airport will be bigger than Tirana's
DeleteTirana has the momentum, and JU is using it very well, respectable job they have done in TIA past several years...
ReplyDeleteNormal. Tirana is getting 10m tourists.. Serbian too, should come more and more..
