Lufthansa trials full complimentary beverage service

NEWS FLASH

Lufthansa will trial complementary beverage service, including alcohol, in economy class on select short-haul flights this September. This follows a trial of complimentary hot beverages on certain routes over the summer. The move comes in response to plummeting passenger satisfaction. The German flag carrier introduced a buy-on-board concept, including for essentials such as water, on short-haul flights in 2021. Lufthansa has not outlined which routes will see the complimentary service, however, it will include free wine, beer, and soft drinks.

This was bound to happen. Their costs are too high to justify such bad onboard service. I am sure complimentary snacks are going to be brought back soon as well.

I wonder why they have to run a trial for that?

I have been flying transatlantic at least 4-5 times a year for well over 20 years. LH went from my favorite carrier to avoid at all costs when buying tickets. Rude staff, rude flight attendants. Frankfurt is a avoid at all costs airport.

I second your opinion... after a series of truly awful experiences with LH and FRA, I no longer use them and was a Star Alliance Silver member... Many better (and cheaper) options exist fortunately.

Maybe instead of free drinks, change attitude of employees by getting their salary better and better working conditions. Getting rid off few rotten apples and making it more people company and less hungry investors higher margin company. Looks like capitalism has eaten its own, Boeing, Southwest now Lufthansa.

Went to Portugal last week with Swiss. It was vastly better than Swiss, better crew, experience on board. ZRH airport is nice and functional for transfers, flights on time. Personally: LX>OS>LH

I flew multiple times BEG-AMS in the past two years and KLM offers the same. They even offer the service twice on this route. Not sure if this is due to the length of the route and I don't remember if they reduced the service after COVID or was it always like this. Anyhow, I prefer them and I fly via AMS whenever I can (intra Europe) and avoid LH. Their service is bad, prices are high and delays and cancellations almost guaranteed.

I remember Muc-Ams flight in 2017, it was almost a full service flight. Now we are celebrating free cocacola

LH and FRA employees are the biggest reason to avoid flying LH. They are more arrogant than the worst of passengers. Juice or wine ok whatever but those people there, no thank you.

Agree. Agree. Agree. One of the worst European Airlines. And Frankfurt has gone from being busy to just being plain bad. Air Serbia is amazingly the way to go. Unless of course you dont mind flying Ryanair from INI.
