Zagreb Airport completes taxiway overhaul

NEWS FLASH

Zagreb Airport has completed a comprehensive overhaul of its taxiway system, which included the renovation of taxiways D and E, as well as H and G. The latter two were originally constructed in 2017 alongside the new terminal. This project, part of a European Union initiative to modernize airport maneuvering areas, also involved the installation of new electrical equipment, signage, and marking aids along the taxiways. Since the project began on May 2, some operational disruptions and delays were reported on some flights to and from Zagreb, lasting until the project's completion on August 31. Last year, the airport upgraded its Aeronautical Ground Lighting system on the runway.

Good news. Still don't get why they had to it in the middle of summer.

    2. Because they needed 4 months for the job and a certain type of asphalt used in this case, doesn't retain a proper consistency for long enough to be applied at temperatures below 5°C. If they had started in February or even March, temperatures would still have been too low, especially in the morning. Same if they had started it in September.
Unfortunately, certain construction works simply have to be done during the warm period.
