Transavia to launch new Belgrade service

NEWS FLASH

Air France - KLM’s low cost subsidiary Transavia France will launch a new seasonal service between Paris Orly Airport and Belgrade next summer season. The budget carrier will operate two weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, from April 10 until September 7, 2025. Although the carrier faces no direct competition, indirectly it will battle against Air Serbia’s service between Belgrade and Paris Charles de Gaulle, as well as Wizz Air’s operation between the Serbian capital and Beauvais. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website. Further flight details can be found here.

Will probs work well against Wizz, considering they serve a superior airport

Transavia will "help" both W6 and JU keep their prices reasonable to Paris.
And besides that ORL airport has better connections to central Paris than CDG, let alone BVA.

Their prices might be cheaper that will push JU and surely W6 to re-think about their price policy in CDG and BVA.

O cemu ti pricas? Karte kod JU za CDG su prejeftine. Pocetna cena od 60 i nesto €.

They're not after JU here. Sure they'll take some pax but Wizz has the least attractive offer in Paris now. They'll have to be dirty cheap next spring.

I think first time since ASL France that there will be nonstop flights from Orly to Belgrade.

  6. Anonymous12:38

Fantastic news! Not only that Orly is closer than CDG - Flying blue members can collect miles on these flights too.

Flying Blue members could already collect miles on CDG-BEG flights, all one needs to do is to book them through AF with AF flight numbers.

Vlad only the most expensive ticket classes of JU are available to book through AF's website.

FlyingBlue and bluebiz can no longer get points on BEG-CDG with JU. All flights are routed via AMS. Air France stopped selling point to point flights with JU.

      @Nemjee

You're completely correct, I had no idea! Luckily I've already booked most of my travel to BEG for the next 6 months or so. Interestingly enough, the AF website offers connections onto JU through NCE, but no direct flights.

    5. Nemjee17:36

I found out the same way, was looking for some flight for the coming January and was surprised when I noticed that they no longer offer flights that are operated by JU.
I wouldn't be surprised if they return to BEG with the A220.

This is fantastic news. ORY is now a breeze to reach from Paris proper with the extension of metro line 14, and avoiding the awful immigration queues at CDG at certain hours is another plus.

That said, they are clearly going after Wizz with this change.

    Isn't 2pw a bit too conservative?

4-5pw year-round would have been more realistic to take on Wizz Air.

I think this route will be a success especially since JU and W6 are not meeting demand and fares have gone up quite a bit.

  12. Nemjee15:36

Let's look at how things were developing.

    - KL launches BEG with three weekly flights.
    - KL discontinues the sale of AMS-BEG tickets on JU.
    - KL boosts BEG to daily.
    - KL boosts BEG to more or less double daily.
    - KL boosts capacity in winter to B73W and turns BEG once more into a KL Mainline destination.
    - AF terminates the sale of CDG-BEG sector on JU.
    - Transavia annouces ORY-BEG.

Let's see if Air France makes a comeback especially since they see how well KL is performing. I don't see SK launching BEG since they would have to compete with both JU and W6 from the same airport.

It's more than obvious that AF-KL is becoming far more hostile towards JU and they could become a serious problem for them.

Transavia and Air Serbia will destroy Wizz Air on this route. On Sundays JU has a 20.20 departure from CDG and Transavia will have a 20.05 departure from BEG.
Who will want to fly on Wizz Air in the middle of the day?
