Hotel planned next to Ljubljana Airport

NEWS FLASH

Real estate companies Soles, Revestum and Porta Alpina have teamed up to kick-start construction of the first hotel next to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The project (pictured), named Hotel Brnik, will boast 165 rooms and will be franchised under a famous hotel chain brand. CSE projekt and Equito Slovenija have developed the design for the future hotel. Revestum described the facility as, “Located near the highway, airport, and three major business zones, the hotel will cater to a wide range of guests, including transit travellers, business professionals, and tourists”. It is set to become “the first and only hotel next to Ljubljana Airport”. Construction is expected to begin in the near future, with investors having already submitted the necessary environmental impact study to the competent ministry and requested other necessary permits.

Superby; especially if the construction of the office spaces planned go ahead. It's starting to be a biz-hub. Maybe the pax number isn't great, but the local growth is huge

Surely this means that LJU will try and get more flights.

It means just the opposite. For the flights the hotel is not needed. The location of the hotel shows that FRAPORT in interested only in real estate business. It's not anywhere close to the terminal. In any case it's useful to have hotel on site.

This was planned way before Fraport bought LJU as part of an "Airport City" plan.

Yes, but not at this location. It was planned inside the new road ring, just next to P2.

It seems that some believe that Fraport even has the power to change the National Spatial Plan.

@17:45 You mean to say Fraport is not at fault for all of Slovenias problems? Fraport fanboy!

Anon 17:45 Yes, they are trying to heavily influence DPN (and you probably know that). When not successful they try to change their projects to OPN. If they would be so motivated in attracting new carriers, LJU would be close to Dubai already. :-P

Great, a nearby hotel is a must for all busier airports in the region. Btw, it has a nice location for plane spotting.

It doesn't really, the view of apron is obstructed by the treeline. You'd only be able to see take offs and landings coming and going in NW direction.
If they cut down the forest there and don't build anything high, then you'd have a great view indeed.

I always thought they'd place the hotel on the inside of the fast road, closer to the airport. If I remember correctly, the LJU airport expansion plan, named Aeropolis had a triangular hotel placed on the opposite side of this road, where the forest currently is.
    Nice development regardles.

Good for gusiness guests in the industrial zone and for skiers (Krvavec). Since airport has 0 serious flights late in the evening, has no need for hotel.

Great, at least the airport and its sorroundings are developing if not the air connections. My guess would be that the hotel chain will be Radisson Blu

Radisson likes tall buildings, this will most probably be Marriott/four points
