Niš Airport negotiating new routes

NEWS FLASH

Niš Constantine the Great Airport has said it is in talks with several interested carriers over the introduction of new flights while discussions with airlines already serving the city will begin this month. “In mid-November we will have more frequent meetings with carriers already flying to Niš and I am hoping for a positive outcome. We are also talking to several other airlines that currently do not fly to Niš and we anticipate this will result in more passengers and destinations next year”, the CEO of Niš Airport, Dušan Knežević, said. Swiss recently announced it would launch a limited summer service between Zurich and Niš, marking its return to the city after over five years. During the January - October period, Niš Airport handled 314.643 passengers, representing a decrease of 19.5% on 2023.

Without subsidies it will be hard to see new routes in INI

He said actually that there are talks with one of the current airlines flying from INI to open a base. There are additional talks with other airlines to introduce new flights.

A seasonal summer flight is not something to brag about.

I didn't see that they were bragging about it particularly. You are just making things up.

I guess they should pay you to fly.

I hope we will end two digit prices for flights.

    3. Anonymous13:26

For sure, resulting in empty seats or lack of flights.

    4. Anonymous13:35

Well, there should be no flights if certain price is not paid. Why should anyone`s money be spent on someone`s flight to Tivat?

I agree. Enough of super cheap tickets. That's not sustainable and someone has to subsidize your ticket in the end. Why?

    6. Anonymous20:05

You are right, we should divert our money and subsidize Kazakh carriers instead!

Lots of Serbs working in factories around Brno, flights to Bratislava or Brno would be full, just like the RF BTS route was prior to lockdown.

Vienna is one hour away from Brno and Bratislava.

Vienna is not quite one hour away from Brno. There are several airport shuttle bus services, and they all take at least 90 minutes from downtown Brno to the VIE airport, and during peak traffic, more than two hours. Niš might just be far enough to make a direct flight worthwhile, but the low-cost competition from Vienna would easily syphon off any potential flyers from Brno itself (especially since these are folks who usually fly on lowest possible fare).

Hopefully they will manage to bring someone to make base there. And hopefully tourist office will work on promotion of south Serbia to attract tourists from new destinations becuase they cannot rely solely on Serbian travellers
