Skopje rolls out self-service baggage drop off

NEWS FLASH

Skopje Airport has introduced self-service baggage drop-off kiosks to streamline passenger check-ins and reduce wait times. The new service allows travellers to check-in their luggage independently, making the pre-flight process faster and more convenient. After checking-in online, passengers can tag their bags at self-service kiosks and then deposit their luggage, cutting down on traditional check-in counter queues. Customers can use the service up to four hours before departure and no later than 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

For now its only Wizz air , but right side of this picture they are working on more check in counters , in the moment they are under construction , I saw it couple days ago , and probably that will be available for all airlines.

Maybe the only european airport without organized collective public transport.

You are not informed. There is a bus starting from Hollyday Inn hotel, several stops to airport. About 3 euros one way. But not very many people use it, since taxi is cheap ( 20 euros or less) and easily available .

17:07 you are wrong. There is shuttle bus service from the city to the airport. You have time table of it in front of the airport. Its cheap and its available on every hour.

I've used the bus, good service. The only problem is time table, sometimes it just doesn't make sense to wait for an hour or even more to take the next bus

How do self-service baggage drop-off kiosks "streamline passenger check-ins and reduce wait times" better than manned kiosks?

Because passengers can come 4 hours before the flight and check in their luggage , no need to wait for operator to open the counter 2 bours before flight and then all the chaos start with big lines. Because there is passengers who come 4 to 5 hours before the flight so they can use this time frame ...make some sense :))

Sure it reduces. There is noone at the counter who take your documents, scroll thru the system, asking question for each pasenger and then finally put the tag on. It takes time. Self service is just scan your tag and drop. Few seconds. Probably you didn't tried this yet.

@18:23 Or come 70min before departures like i always do and finish the job with the check-in for 5min. No need to go to the airport 4 hours before departure. But yeah its good for those who are earlier, they will finish with check in and after be free.

18:55 me too I never go before 2 hours , but there is alot of people who prefer that timing or someone who is coming 45 mins before the fligh , its always good when we have automated machines avoiding peoples need

Original commenter here. Interesting arguments. But I'm just not convinced that an average self-bag drop is faster than a bag drop with an agent. And I've used them many times. I honestly feel it goes faster when there's a person. Would be interesting to do an empirical assessment.

Advantage is they’re supposed to “work” 24/7 and they are in addition to check-in counters.

Its not about being faster its just plus and extra machine that will help reduce waiting , maybe not alot but still is improvement. We can see them in every big hub around the world so probably they dont put them and invest in them without a reason

The thing is that nobody will use it cause the people who travel with wizzair dont even know why they should remain seated until the final
stop of the aircraft. So instead of waiting in the line for check in u can just use this self check in which will mostly be free.
