NEWS FLASH
Visitors entering the United Kingdom from visa-exempt countries, including Croatian and Slovenian passport holders, will be obligated to register online prior to entering the country or transferring through its airports and pay a ten pound fee. The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, requiring travellers to obtain pre-travel authorisation will come into force for citizens of European Union member states on April 2, 2025. Ireland will be the only country exempt. Applications begin on March 5, 2025. Applicants must provide personal details, passport information, and a photograph, as well as answer eligibility questions. Applications can be submitted via the UK ETA app or online. An approved ETA is valid for two years or until the associated passport expires, allowing multiple visits of up to six months each. Even travellers transiting through the UK and its airports without entering will need an ETA. The ETA system aims to enhance border security and streamline entry processes. Travellers are advised to apply well in advance of their planned travel dates to ensure compliance with the new requirements. The ETA approval process will take up to a maximum of three business days.

DeleteThanks, no thanks lol
ReplyDeleteAnother smart business decision in UK
ReplyDeleteStarmer keeps losing
DeleteThis is a Conservative Party policy
DeleteHahahaha, i love the way they are becoming irrelevant and a joke.
ReplyDeleteMost airports for a single city in the world - London
DeleteBiggest airport in Europe - Heathrow
Sixth biggest economy in the world - UK
"Irrelevant and a joke"?
Despite all the above: they are a joke. In which country an institution steals your passport from you for six months keeping you hostage after you already had a visa to enter the country and left thousands of pounds to get an education there?
DeleteI don't know which country. Certainly not the UK.
DeleteUSA holds passports sometimes for over a year when people from certain 'countries' apply for the visa.
Delete@15.53 Rich coming from someone living in the Balkans
DeleteFreshki at his best, missing the point of the comment, then feeling the need to write something, anything.
Deletenot rich at all. It happened to me. And I don't come from the balkans. So, still a joke in my book.
DeleteThanks to Irish passport 🤣
ReplyDeleteI will avoid transferring in Britain from Canada in the future.
ReplyDeleteRespect.
DeleteGood luck to them, won’t be transiting through UK!
ReplyDeleteI don't know who even wants to go there?! That country is in freefall
ReplyDeleteTalking about shooting themselves in the knee. I wouldn't go there if they would pay me. :)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound like the policy has impacted you then?
DeleteWell they definitely lost a potential tourist. So I guess it impacted Britain.
DeleteThey will surely miss your few euros
DeleteI really don't care.
DeleteHmmm. To be completely honest, I don't quite fancy this decision.
ReplyDelete*sips tea*
This was introduced by the Conservative administration in 2022.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think 10 pounds will prevent me from visiting the UK...
ReplyDeleteSecond that.
DeleteIt's just 10 quid mate innit
DeleteRather spend that some place else.
DeleteIf it's just 10 quid why bother in the first place.
Just my 2 cents
They want to payback to EU that Non-Visa thingy xD
ReplyDeleteA fee for a software based process? Probably they want to reimburse the costs the service provider charges them.
ReplyDeleteNo different to what the EU will have in place soon, no different to what USA and Canada already do. Why all the OTT histrionics?
ReplyDeleteIt is different. The EU will not ask you to do ETA to transfer. If you fly from point A to New York via Frankfurt you won't fill out ETA or pay for it. EU ETA approval will be literally in seconds, not 3 business days and thirdly EU ETA lasts 3 years, not 2.
DeleteIf you fly from point A to New York via Belgrade you won't need ETA
DeleteUK is indeed in a decline. Living standard, as measured by official average real wages, hasn't improved since 2008. Then came the Brexit, the full impact of which only became visible after covid lockdown. Meanwhile, favourable trade deal with USA is a pipe dream.
ReplyDeleteSterling is down 8% vs. Euro, compared to the day before the referendum, even after recent rally.
