Zagreb Airport sees strong October growth

NEWS FLASH

Zagreb Airport handled 416.662 passengers in what has become its busiest October on record. It also marks the fifth consecutive time it welcomed over 400.000 travellers in a single month. The figure represents an increase of 18.7% on 2023. The growth comes on the back of a 7.2% increase in the number of operated flights, which totalled 4.251 for the month. During the January - October period, Zagreb Airport welcomed 3.681.956 travellers through its doors, up 16.2% on last year, or an additional 513.353 customers. The airport will surpass its 2023 end-of-year result in November. Strong growth is expected to continue this month, with scheduled seat capacity up 7.4%.

    1. Scheduled seat capacity amounted to 516,643 but do note this is just on scheduled flights and does not include charters, private flights etc.

Thank you. So some 100.000 seats were unsold from those numbers. I guess everyone besides OU did well.

OU's flights to ZAD/PUY, OMO and BWK were probably only 20% full, Trade Air to OSI was probably 10% full and OU's SJJ probably 50% only.

OU's record low load factor goes beyond PSO domestic flights. They issue separate statistics for domestic and international LF. And the loads Jan-Oct are the same on both!

I wonder what their finances would look like if they didn't have PSO.

Given Ryanair's Scheduled seat capacity is only cca 13k less than Croatia, do we think they have outperformed OU as the busiest carrier in October?

Obviously yes, by a significant margin.

OU had the most seats, FR the most passengers.
You can see that OU is struggling big time because of their massive loss in Q3.

Great to see Zagreb finally showing some meaningful growth and also it is good to see OU looks to have realised they can not ignore and not be part of this growth anymore. If OU's planned expansion is half realised next year, Zagreb will likely see more than 5 million passengers in 2025!!

Based on current trend Zagreb airport will hit 4.31 million passengers in 2024, and very good chance it'll surpass 4.8 million in 2025. I'll need to see exact data for 2025 in terms of seats availability for 2025, but based on current trend, I anticipate at least 5.85 million seats in 2025. Based on that figure alone, Airport is expected to handle around 4.68 million. But I think 4.8 million is more likely as charter and unscheduled flights will bring extra passengers. This year I expect Zagreb will handle between 4.31 and 4.325 million passengers.

We'll need to wait for Ryan Air announcements and any new airlines adding Zagreb in 2025, but it would not surprise me if there are new carriers announced for spring summer 2025. OU is also adding 8 new routes out of Zagreb, this is extra 20 flights per week, so things might be even more interesting in 2025.

Anyone know what is going on with T'way? They are adding flights and capacity left and right and there is still nothing for ZAG? Could we see their 777 in ZAG?

It's more likely we won't see them at all next year.

Why is the Korea to ZAG market so difficult? KE tried it and failed even with flights via ZRH. Now we have T'way which seems to struggle. Is it because VIE and BUD are too close?

t'Way removed ZAG as their destination. There won't be t'Way in Zagreb in 2025.

Market difficult? How? Analitičar said there is huge market, t'Way is confident because they opened "ured" iz Zagreb, etc...

Please don't take that person seriously. What kind of respected aviation site has news about garbage cleanup at car parking in SJJ, olive harvesting at SPU, EK A380 model he got as a gift from his wife, having lunches with Montenegro aviation managers and some new shrubs and greenery at SJJ. Seriously?

They really removed ZAG as a destination? They did plan on terminating ZAG early this year so there must have been problems.

      Oh well...

Zagreb is very cozy city, especially during Christmas time. And it has a great geographical location, everything is close - sea, islands, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia etc. Bravo for the numbers!
