Austrian Airlines has marked its 25th year of operations between Vienna and Pristina. The carrier launched flights between the two cities on March 26, 2000. An Austrian Airlines Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring the airline’s retro livery scheme, was greeted by a water cannon salute at Pristina Airport yesterday, along with the Austrian Deputy Ambassador to Kosovo, Clarissa Castek, and government officials. "This anniversary is not only a reflection of the history of Austrian Airlines but also of the many connections we have made during this time. We thank the Pristina Airport team for their support and dedication. So far, we have created very good relationships and credit also goes to the wonderful staff of Pristina Airport”, Austrian Airlines said. The Austrian flag carrier will maintain double daily flights to Pristina this summer season. Austrian Airlines overtook its Turkish counterpart to become the busiest legacy carrier operating out of Pristina in 2024, handling 150.000 passengers, an improvement on the 133.000 travellers the year before, despite capacity levels remaining unchanged.
