LIVERY OF THE WEEK: American Airlines special

In revisiting its own history, American Airlines is celebrating the airlines that it acquired and absorbed in its ascendance to the status of world’s largest airline fleet by painting its aircraft in the livery of its former competitors. The move continues a tradition started by US Airways, which is now part of American, to honour its predecessor airlines. There are a total of seven so-called "Heritage Liveries" and they include AirCal, Trans World Airlines (TWA), Reno Air, Piedmont Airlines, Allegheny Airlines, America West and US Airways.
