The national carrier of the Dominican Republic, PAWA Dominicana, commenced operations in 2015. The airline's livery depicts the flag of the island-nation in motion, flying against the wind. In addition, large PAWA titles, standing for Pan Am World Airways, have been placed on the fuselage of its aircraft. The airline currently maintains a fleet of seven aircraft, one of which is the DC-9, and has orders for a further nine jets, including Boeing 757s and Bombardier CRJ200s. The company's goal is to turn Santo Domingo Airport into a Caribbean hub.
